One of the main reasons I love him, is that he's not like other artists, he's not materialistic. He wears the same white shirt and his dead partners sweater. He's chill af all the time. Overall I think he's just an amazing human.

Its so crazy how 7 years ago he was so aware of the direction we were heading in as a society and the current trends of the internet, everything he said back then is more relevant now than ever. 3:30 "everyone's so afraid of offending and being misunderstood" unfortunately that is the reality of the world we live in now, gotta appeal to everyone or you're canceled 5:25 him talking about kids doing whatever they want, not needing a boss, thats society now with social media people make a living off of RU-vid and making content, etc. 5:58 nostalgia on the internet, even more now than ever. Every year we get reminded "oh this album came out on this day by so and so" or "remember last year super bowl" or whatever else, etc. Not only that but in our own lives you get girls posting about "oh take me back to summer of 2017 when I was with my girls in Spain" or whatever, its just harder to live in the moment now, and its easier to just remember when you were in a happy place.
I sometimes feel like he doesn't but at the same time he cares a lot. I mean, at the end of this interview he seemed to go quiet and shut himself up because he was losing the crowds attention and I dunno, he seemed kinda awkward in the last few seconds. I think he doesn't care what others think but only because he's his own biggest criticizer
i think his mind is moving at light speed in many directions and trying to isolate, capture and articulate any one of those ideas succinctly and in a way that an audience can comprehend (and without sounding a bit wacko) is a pretty tall order. i get it. :\

Even if that was the case, I would argue that the statement "I'm just a rapper" sounds reductive and doesnt at all imply that is what the "rapper" wants to be. If I were to say I'm just an artist that is just me stating what I am but not what I want to be. So both statements could be true but theyre not a contradiction.

I love donald, and I see so many similar traits between him and asher roth (whom is one of my favorite artists). The vibe, the I don't give a shit attitude, the lyrical creativity; a track with him and asher would be incredible.
Childish Gambino/ Donald Glover is a smart man. He makes sense in a lot of his interviews. He is definitely one of the better rappers of our generation. Like all of the rappers talk about money,bitches,and drugs but Bino talks about like life and how we should move forward but remember the past. I love his music and his verses are smart. We need more rap artist's like him but also we don't because his music is unique and he doesn't wanna share it with any other rap artists he just wants to do his own thing. I've got a huge amount of respect for him and for all the people that talk shit about him, you guys clearly don't understand talent when its presented to you. He is a better rapper than School Boy Q, Chance The Rapper, and all those bunk ass rappers you listen to. Years after the fact, it’s clear that he was doing this interview as “The Boy” People commented on how he sat, what he wore, what he talked about. He was dismissed as pretentious and weird, but it was method acting at its finest. If you like Gambino, even in a passing sense, please go dive into “Because The Internet” and not just the album, but also the screenplay.
