I, too, love childess Cat ladies. thank yuo for using comic books and visuals to get the point across. did you see the movie Deadpool and Wolveringe? I saw some lovely Lois Lane old books at a flea market, but they weren't in good condtion. Nice collection you show.
Love your theme for this video! Well done! Marvel didn't try very hard at giving readers some female driven series in the early 70's. The Cat, Shanna, and Night Nurse all came out about the same time and got only 4 or 5 issues before calling it quits. Terrible lack of faith from Stan Lee. My favorite of the Childless Cat Ladies is Rima. People forget that she predates every other jungle ladies and lords. The novel Green Mansions by William Henry Hudson came out in 1904, at least 8 years before Tarzan's first appearance in The All-Story pulp magazine in 1912.
Shanna, The Cat and Night Nurse were a womans lib project proposed by Roy Thomas and approved by Stan Lee. The idea was to start Marvel female series with female writers and artist. Unfortunately, it didn't go over well. I can speculate that is because their read base was 99% adolescent boys.
I'm a childless cat lady! Well, I have kids. And am a dude. But screw it! Also, more importantly, I remember The Cat. Bought all 4 issues and thought they could have done more with her. Thanks for the video!👊😎
I love all those childless cat ladies. You'll see some Rima on my channel soon and I've got to work on getting Shanna. Right now I have issue 1 which I guess is the best issue to have if you only have one issue from that title. Shanna also made some bronze age appearances in Daredevil. I believe issues 109-111. Do you have any Tigra in your collection? (She's the evolution of "Beware! The Claws of the Cat")
