Neoclassical riff keeps kicking ass

I see lots of coments saying this isn't "old bodom", and you are right. Alexi said in an interview that it's not about just playing fast and heavy anymore. Now they are focusing on SONG STRUCTURE and so on. And I must say I like them a lot more like this. The whole album is amazing, especially songs like Hecates nightmare, this road and Under grass and clover...So I say a solid 8.5/10🤘 I have always hated music videos though.

Still as heartbroken as the day the band called it quits, and even more still since Alexi passed. The band treated their fans like friends. I miss seeing them all after shows and hearing their stories of the times on tour. Forever your loyal fan and friend. 💯

An unstable guy. Drug abuse, bad decissions. But also a Metal Legend. Through years, his music came to my ears when I had bad moments. Aleksi left us after launching one of the best COB albums ever. Last time I saw them alive was 2011... Now I miss that good old times. Rest In Peace, thanks for your legacy.

Alexi Laiho has been my main reference as guitar player since 2015. The thing that impressed me most on Children of Bodom is their ability to wright incredibly good original melodies. Usually modern compositions put more emphasis on harmony than melody. But to me sounds like the melodic elements on CoB songs are the main factor. Not just the dissonant weird ones but some very good you can even sing or whistle and no one will tell it's a metal song. And yet they mix great melodies well harmonized with heavy riffs and harsh vocals. They took that Malmsteen neoclassical guitar playing and developed it with a finish approach on death metal. From 2008 to 2013 they kind of lost this particular elements and sounded like any generic metal band. But since I Worship Chaos they brought back their old sound but with major care on song structure. I think they did everything right in this last album and concluded their career on Bodom in the best way possible. Rip Alexi.

Hexed is their best album since Hate Crew Deathroll. The fast riffing, epic melodies, beautiful solos.... It has everything that made COB special back in the day. And they brought back the slow, melancholic style on Soon Departed 🙏🤘

My favourite song from the new album, I love that neo-classical lick. It's sad that they are quitting, even though Alexi and Daniel continue to play under a different band name. COB was probably the most important band for me back in the day, they got me into playing in bands and practicing guitar like hell.

I woke up this morning to the news on CoB and their (what I’m calling it) splitting-up. Personally I’m still in so much shock, especially since this is in the same year they released Hexed. This could really be it for the last of CoBs original sound, if not, the band in general when the majority of members leave. Ever since middle school they’ve been my lifeline for when times were tough or just when I wanted to listen to something good. They’ve always been one of, and probably the ONLY band I have a special place in my heart for. To hear the news on this left me completely shattered. CoB and their music has always meant a lot to me, even albums like Implosion Of Heaven (back when they were still known as Inearthed). I’m just hoping this is all some super realistic nightmare I can wake up from.

Listing to heavy metal for 16 years, I have to say, this is the best song ever recorded. It takes everything to a next level. Solid lyrics and a guitar riff that would make Vivaldi happy. Not to count the eerie ending. High quality music right here. ❤️

I didn't know this band before but when i listen once i felt like i don't want to stop listening anymore .the best metal ever heard .the rhythm,the melody is so nice .but so sad the leader Alexi passed away so soon .but his legacy lives forever

I think it was good for Alexi to re-learn and tour Something Wild. While I don't really like the album much it was cool to hear all those old school style Bodom riffs and licks.

This is really crazy, well like they say "all good things must come to an end" this is one of those things that one wishes would not come to an end. I was fortunate enough to see them tour back in the Unholy Alliance Tour. Some of the other big name bands that played were Lamb of God and Slayer. That was my first metal concert at ab actual arena. Before that my "concerts" were back yard shows!! which were still amazing. Sad to find out Children of Bodom will not longer be the same. Wish you guys the best.

Crazy this is the last video we’ll get from COB, I’m eternally grateful for the two times I got to see them live, most recent being this last tour. Their music has been a big part of my life’s soundtrack and has always been there for me, good times and bad. I wouldn’t be who I am or where I am today without them. Thank you Children of Bodom, from the bottom of my heart.

Grateful I saw them rock live once and met them after at Toad's in New Haven... Kinda in a life before I was like this now. Alexi played like 2 albums perfectly and did all my favorite songs and drank a bunch of champagne and the moshers were kind. I wasn't myself back then, but it was a formative experience posing in front of them all after the show. After playing it all, he still had the energy and passion to give me a moment and a picture. I wish I could relive that moment and energy. \m/ you all inspired me to even make my synth stuff and continue to inspire my guitar. Too young. I am grateful.
