Please do more images like these it's beautiful and this is the type of thing that I really enjoy painting other than animals of course. And I listen to all of your videos all the way through because you make me laugh you make me think you make me look at things from a different perspective and I think that's a wonderful thing.

Nice painting! I’m up late, trying to spend money on art supplies I don’t need. Lol I’m definitely gonna try this painting. I just love granulating colors. They just add magic to a painting.

You're pretty awesome Pete... we are lucky to have you! I've finally learned to be my natural, authentic self and my audience is organically growing. I do have a ft job outside of YT, so this is just my hobby and I LOVE to share my Art. Your honest talks along with your Art is why I'm here. I resonate with so much of what you're sharing. Most of my audience stayed after switching from making scrapbooks to Watercolor and I just began being more consistent so I am celebrating that small win. Friend-yes!!! 16:30 To everything you have said -YES! I love the creativity involved with making videos and creating art!! I’m so LUCKY to be able TO DO THIS!!😂 I’ve worked 25 years as a labor and delivery RN (and will do so for another 10 probably!) & lives depend upon my decision making and skill level every night I’m at the hospital-THAT IS STRESS. Here on you Tube!? I have FUN! I don’t expect to become a millionaire or famous-I simply want to talk about the things I’m passionate about and paint and try to show people my art and get the chance to see their art and be online friends and so on! You tube is wonderful and I’ve had ONLY like 30 views TOTAL on my new YT channel but I’m having a GREAT time! THANK YOU FOR YOUR WORDS! Loved this video. God bless!! Congrats on the promotion! I personally think people see these big name youtubers, think being your own boss is easier without realizing it comes with a whole different set of problems, then get in over their head. But not being a youtuber, what do I know lol. I have a bit of experience with working for people who own their own business and the amount of effort you need to keep your name out there is really stressful so I imagine it's the same for people treating yt like a business? Either way I appreciate that your channel is so relaxed and fun, you can tell when a creator is stressed by their content and I hope you never experience that.

Point 1). I use a mix of both, my nice brushes, and the water pens. I think they are both amazing. Depends what I want something to look like. Point 2) darn glad you aren’t planning to go away, a lot of people would be sad😢 Point 3) why yes indeed, we need a rant or two of yours. It’s cathartic Point 4) laughed so much at COOKING WITH WATERCOLOR , part two, I’ll wear depends…Point 5) the painting is absolutely beautiful. One color…stunning. Point 6) will never leave a video of yours…I do love hearing you ramble…I smile all the time. OH PS…I would rig the game too. You are awesome, Pete. I’m gonna give it try

@@IllustrationsByPete I’ll try it this week. It is now turning spring here in Central Texas (to be 90 today 🥵) and it’s time to clean flowerbeds and get things planted. Leaves less time for painting at first! Yeah, in central Tx we sort of jump from end of winter to summer rather quickly.

Haha…I think I’m the person who said you deserve to paint with a real paint brush. Believe me, I put a lot of thought into writing that….because of your acerbic nature. Everyone says how relaxing you are, meanwhile I’m biting my fingernails before pressing the send button. The truth about water brushes is that I use them all the time for unimportant stuff but I can’t stand the way they feel on paper. Dry and scratchy. And I may be imagining it but I think they make a scrappy sound. So do you think using that Silver brush made a difference?

Don't feel nervous about it. My favorite thing about doing this is hearing from all of you. I can take a little criticism and I never take it maliciously. I am very conscious of texture, which is why I have trouble with dip pens and metal technical pens on paper. I haven't noticed that with a water brush but I could be used to it. I'll have to pay attention. I enjoy painting with regular good quality watercolor brushes when I paint off camera but I always feel anxious about doing it on that desk with all my electronics around. I spill. 😂

Ha! I woke up this morning and thought, ok, done with all my am iPad chores, guess I’ll go to RU-vid… then it hit me it was Monday and I smiled. Monday=A new Pete video. Loved the mono painting and the chatter. I’ve been considering a Bee Paper Watercolor sketchbook. How do you like it? How does it hold up relative to pilling? Is it a true cold press surface with a little tooth? Is it anything at all like Arches? Have a great day!

Hi Cherice! I'm glad you enjoyed this!. I find that all paper has its own quirks but I really enjoy this paper. It has handled what I do to it very well. This was a lot of wet into wet and I didn't see any pulling. It has a nice texture but a little less than Arches. It's also bright white. It takes a little more to get it wet than some papers but once it's wet it stays wet a while. I had plenty of time to work on this painting. I have heard some people don't like it but I'm not sure why. I think it's great. You probably need to try it to decide for yourself. 🙂

I believe some RU-vidrs stress themselves because they want to earn income from their videos. And/or first they desperately beg their viewers to subscribe and promise to "answer every comment" but how would that work with a lot of subscribers? I guess that's one reason I like your videos - you don't bend over backwards just for a few clicks more but you come over as quite relaxed. Sometimes ranty (is that even a word?) but still enjoyable to watch (or just because of that 🙂). I like the color separation in "monochromatic study", the painting has a stormy vibe. I'm curious how you like the pen. Thank you for a relaxing time 🥰

I'm glad you enjoy the videos. I know that certain videos get more views but usually it's because the topic is pushed out more. And I am conscious of needing to include them so I can get more eyes on the channel to grow the community. However, I never create videos I don't enjoy and I certainly wouldn't lean into them if my current audience didn't like them also. This needs to be fun for everyone or it just isn't worth it. The pen is wonderful. I absolutely love it. Smooth and the ink flows great. 👍🏻 Thank you for all your support. I appreciate you.

I want to know what inspired you to start filming and rambling in front of a camera for us? I'm so glad you do because you're an absolute delight to watch and I get excited every time I get a notification when you've uploaded. p.s. I also want to know which Qor paints you ordered xD I almost forgot to mention how lucky you were to get that silver black velvet quill mop brush for free, I've had it on my wishlist for awhile but haven't been able to justify getting a $60 brush just yet lol enjoy and covet that thing as long as you can

It's a bit of a long story. The short version is I'm a workaholic but I have one condition to what I do on the side, I have to love it. I also have no friends. Lol. Or at least I stay so busy I have no time for friends. I enjoy being alone more than being around people (with the exception of my wife). This allows me to be around a large group of people while also being alone. It's like a dream come true. 😂 Plus I love art and more importantly, I enjoy encouraging people and making them smile. I have a swatching video coming up in a few weeks showing all my QoR paints. I've become addicted to them. I will enjoy that Quill as much as I can. It's a beautiful brush. Thank you for all your support and being a part of this community. I appreciate you. 🙂

@IllustrationsByPete I love that and I am also someone who enjoys being alone and having time to myself to just create art or play video games, whatever.. I totally get it! Plus making friends in this current climate is HARD, the struggle is real. I can't wait to see. I love my QoR paints so much. I have them all in a 30 pan Mijello palette and I reach for it all the time. I wish more people understood and enjoyed using QoR watercolor. I appreciate YOU 🤗

For quite a while I stopped making any videos and even now I've only made a few because it became more stressful than joyful. Of course having shattered my ankle and broken both bones in my left leg kind of contributed to the stress😅

Yikes! That sounds terrible. If you aren't having fun then it's not worth it. I wouldn't do anything that would make me feel bad about creating art. You have to do what's best for you.

sounds good. getting new stuff, blick will probably get some of it this year. for the guy complaining about your brushes, it's your art, use what you like. the results are more important than how you got there. ya, i noticed the quitters. seems like they put too much into it. i make a vid now and then but i do it for the people who asked me to, not because it's my job. not making any money on it is fine... as long as they know i am not doing it every week LOL yup, it's crazy, like stock brokers, crazy how much some people put into their videos. why would some one want to watch something everyone else is already doing? ya, that cooking vid was great LOL oh, regular water color with the stuff made with honey, how dose that mix? i have taken off for months because i just looked around and said "that wasn't fun. what's wrong?" and i have spent a couple of months figuring it out. might do an art haul vid in a bit, maybe not (feeling cute). like the landscape. i like mono scape, i use them as 2x2in thumbnails for swatching. i feel like i get a better feel for a single color for it.

The person with the brushes wasn't being mean, as a matter of fact they immediately sent another message apologizing if they did. I agree, this is a great way to explore a color. 👍🏻
