I think it’s because he doesn’t really enjoy the game on its own. I believe he said that he only plays Minecraft for the purpose of playing and interacting with friends, as well as getting to mess with people from time to time (like The Purge server).

Chilled has never had extended minecraft playthroughs. Even going back to the Pixelmator derp crew content, he has very little engagement. Maybe like 3-4 vids. It's not his style of content and beyond his friends he has 0 interest in the game. And I respect it honestly, minecraft is so oversaturated between the people I follow and they streak upwards of 2 hour sessions multiple days a week. I cannot and refuse to keep up. These are nice one and done vids I can get through.

Seriously. I'd die a thousand deaths to have a tenth of his charisma.

To be fair, she doesn't win a lot in Minecraft, and her team wasn't even supposed to win MCC1. Up until 10 MCCs ago, she still wasn't supposed to win either. Her teams were fodder for the big guns, without getting the attention of last place. She was never benched because she was the bench. An anonymous filler team with leftover players that doesn't show up in highlight clips, only in the kill feed. MCC is a clout fest, and her only Minecraft clout was winning MCC1.

@@JameyMcQueen Okay, lore drop. MCC1 was a party hosted by Scott Smajor and IHasCupquake. It has a lot of their friends, as well as big OG RU-vidrs. Big names. And one of those RU-vidrs was AntVenom. Unfortunately, someone on his team had to drop out a few days before, so they looked for a replacement - and somehow, they found Kara. She was asked to find three friends last minute. And so, Kara, King Burren, Kratzy and Michael McChill entered the competition. Four minor members of SMPLive, who streamed to under a hundred viewers. Sometimes they made it to a hundred viewers - combined. They were nobodies, they were fills - and they won. This isn't just Kara. It's been noted about Krinios, TapL, Kratzy, Ryguy, SB737. If you're not affiliated with a big SMP, you weren't likely to get on big teams. They were just there so everyone else could look good. Kara had the bad luck of being the bottom frag on the weak team, so she got mid to low thirties and was considered an F-Tier, a nerf, the Bench. If she was mentioned at all. The amount of hate she's gotten isn't normal. Then her frustrations boiled over and she finally said something about it and all of a sudden everyone pretended like they always liked her, and she got better teams.

I honestly do get where Chilled is coming from, when he puts himself down like that. From his perspective it feels like he is utterly mismatched in his team. During the event he continuously witnessed his teammates outperforming him by miles and their genuine humility just made it worse. For your team to try and praise (possibly exaggerate) your achievements, while you feel like you accomplished nothing in comparison, is incredibly painfull. I agree that Chilled contributed plenty too his team given the circumstances, but this win feels, on a peronal level, greatly unearned.

As someone involved in the MC event scene, I'm very glad that Chilled got invited to play and that he had fun with the event. The Noxcrew (who works on MCC) really knows how to put on a show with their events!

could you elaborate on being involved in the mc event scene? does that mean you work with mcc?

Nah, I'm a tester for other Minecraft events but I don't test for MCC (I wish lol). Testers provide feedback to see if gameplay is enjoyable and if there are any bugs. I know a good number of MCC testers, though I can't really get insider information since they're obligated (both informally and contractually for internal testers) to not leak. Even leaking something from 2 years ago in MCC testing can get you in trouble :P There's sort of an MC event trio that everyone in the scene knows about: MCC, most well known and long-established; Blockwars (BW), recently got into the mainstream but they have a lot more variety creators; and Pandora's Box (PB), definitely the highest skill average out of the three so not as much content creators but it's widely regarded as the best in terms of game design, scoring and soundtrack.
