I just made this dish from his cookbook and I was very surprised at how delicious it is. Also he cooked the hotdog in chicken stock instead of water. It for sure tastes better than mom's boiled and split hotdogs. Ive never even thought of the chicken stock, but that's what the recipe says, and it's great man.

"Raw" is used with implied air quotes. You can definitely tell the difference between a wiener straight out of the package and a wiener that's been cooked again, even if they're both coming out of a refrigerator.

I agree AeroDoe, Oregano is delicious in Chili, I also use cumin, cinnamon and sometimes chocolate in Mexican food. and for those that find that weird check out the 10 major mole sauces from the different states of Mexico. I also agree with you on basil in Italian "gravy" nice big fresh leaves in the sauce. Oregano is a major ingredient in Greek food and by the way Greek style pizza is really delicious. But these are all regional differences. I'm German/American by decent but shouting out a big " ciao" to you. best!

When I lived in DC, I used to eat at a place called Hard Times. They served the Cincinnati-style chili over spaghetti. It was soooo good, but you'd end up in a salt-induced coma afterward, snoozing on the Metro & nearly missing your stop. Totally worth it, nonetheless.
