A tip i got taught for giant pumkins is keep the stem and end parallel to the floor as when it gets large it will snap its self of the vine if its at an angle. I had this happen last year one of of mine so it may be worth lifting the end abit before it gets too heavy
Yeah, I noticed this in a couple previous years too. I don't think it is necessarily the plant...but a combination of how I grow, and what the plant wants.
Your chillies look fantastic. I also have a plant here, which is also doing well because of the extreme solar heat and light. Good year for the peppers. Keep up this good work!
Everything looks absolutely amazing. I planted all my seeds for the Sugar Rush Stripy and none survived. I would love to purchase some seeds from you seeing Fatalii doesn’t ship to the US anymore. I will be watching our store as I do all the time lol. You should be totally proud of all your plants and garden. Its absolutely amazing. Maybe one day I can see it in person. Love the video Shaun. Thank you so much for sharing. V/R Shane
Thanks for the recommendation. All things considered (no greenhouse) my basket of fire are thriving. They're dripping with fruit. I may try to fit in a small greenhouse for next year.
You aren’t missing out too much with the fish peppers, lots of seeds and don’t taste that great. I also tried my first Trinidad perfume a few days ago and had the exact same reaction lol! My brain anticipated pain and regret but then there was no heat. That was a very strange sensation.
I guess I just need to consider the fish pepper plant an ornamental. Very pretty. And yeah, the Trinidad Perfume is definitely a strange one! That first bite and that aroma hits you.
Ah man I got serious plant envy going on! This year has been a big ol poopoo. I thought last year was bad but this year has been abismal! But your plants just look stunning! Good on you. Love the longer vids! Happy birthday Shaun!
If you want more compact marigolds I can recommend Tagetes tenuifolia (Lemon Gem/Tangerine Gem/Starfire Mix). They stay under a foot tall and wide, are smothered with flowers all summer, attract loads of beneficial insects and smell great.
I have tried a bunch now, the ones I've had the best success with are these, the African Marigolds. Especially with the hoverflies they attract, they absolutely annihilate aphids! But I will have a look at the ones you suggest, thank you.
@@ChilliChump2 I have loads of gem marigolds in a border just outside the greenhouse door and the number of aphid predators inside has been incredible this year. Hoverflies, ladybirds, parasitic wasps, minute pirate bugs, predatory midges...aphid carnage. I will be saving seed from Lemon, Tangerine and Red Gems, you are welcome to have some if you like.
That would be kind of you, thanks. Can send you some of my African Marigolds seeds if you like. Could you message me here please chillichump.com/contact
I would say in the greenhouses get rid of the shelfing and grow in bigger containers with fewer plants. Bigger plants more harvest plus they won't hit the roof or walls.
Growing lower down, especially in our climate results in slightly lower temperatures for the plant. I would prefer the staging (shelves) to be a little lower...but definitely not at ground level. I have been monitoring and testing this over the last 5 years. At ground level it is about 1.7'C cooler on average than just 60cm up. Also it gives me a lot more space to store things. There will be a few changes made next year...but I won't be removing the shelving.
I reckon it will be restocked in about a month. But get in touch through my website mate. Chillichump.com/contact I may have a quicker solution for you from my personal stock!
Much prefer the extended cuts :) With all the different varieties within the greenhouse do you not get cross pollination or are they self pollinators? (not really green fingered but do enjoy pottering) I tried my hand a chilli’s 7 to 10 years ago with very little success, unfortunately I don’t have the time or the space at the moment to have another go. Really enjoy the video's since stumbling upon your channel a few weeks ago.
Thanks Al. Chillies are self pollinating. There is the chance of cross pollination but that only affects the seeds...it won't affect the chilli that results.
So much rain! How long did it take to fill up all those 5k litres? Can't wait to try the Peppadew. I think it is my best yielding plants this season (so far at least). I can see you're back to maintaining a jungle (Big Chump) again hehe 😍Naga Morich is indeed a very tasty pepper. Will grow it again for sure. NICE to see there's some OPK in the making 🤤That Primotalii tail! Think someone posted some 7 Pot image on discord with a similar tail.. Just looks evil! That Fish Pepper looked really nice. Looks like a blown up version of mine. And the pods look as pretty as the leaves. Trinidad Perfume sounds interesting hadn't heard about that one. Only heard about Habanada and there's also a heatless 7 Pot Primo floating around. WOW! Those Chinese 5 Color sure looks stunning in that amount. I grew the 1 plant a couple of years ago and thought it looked pretty. Was nothing compared to your forest 😄And that tomato plant sure looked loaded! Thanks for an awesome (and lengthy 🥰) update!
Do you have an affiliate link for Rhino Greenhouses ? I am in the market for one and thought you may have a link that would allow the channel to benefit too.
Thanks Brian, kind of you to consider that. I don't have an affiliate link at the moment. But I will send them an email now and ask them if they have a program. I know that quite a few people have bought a rhino greenhouse because of me (and rightfully so...they are a fantastic greenhouse).
I grew a Trinidad Perfume last year. The first bite gave me an "Oh shit" moment as well, but honestly they tasted like soap right after that. I'm not a fan.
