I always considered it criminal that this song isn't consistently named as one of the greatest rock tunes of all time. Kudos to Chilliwack from the lower 48.
This is a song written by a young Chilliwack that was already difficult to sing in 1975, the fact that they were still even daring to attempt it so many years later, let alone pulling it off well, is commendable. I am 29 and feel like my voice is probably already beyond some of those notes.
All true. The original singer on the high ahh’s was Howard Froese, who also played guitar during this era of the band. Pretty spectacular singer and musician overall.
As an irish immagrant who landed in vancouver in 2015.finding this band has been one of the highlights.i play and sing a little and cant believe these guys still play so well after so many years.legends
What an absolute delight to see such a great old act aging with grace. I'm so over rock stars who look like a caricature of their younger selves - way to just be yourselves guys. You sound great too :)
I saw them in the late 70's at Rideau Carleton race track in Ottawa Ontario Canada, they opened for the Eagles on they're Hotel California tour . They blew 35,000 minds away , we cheered for more they were fantastic !! However to no avail, due to the next act . I've been playing ( guitar 🎸) your music to this day , and will continue to do so , till I hit that big mattress in the sky Thanks guy's for all of the awesome tunes ❤
What a great tribute song to their fans. Most bands try writing a song like this but Fly at Night nails it perfectly. Most artists just say a big fake “I love you”, but Chilliwack makes you feel the love they have for their fans.
one of my absolute fav albums...I bought a bunch of these and sent them to friends in the states that were curious at our music...all they hear was 3 dog night....this was a great album to share.
It’s so surreal when looking at my playlist I use when I’m on my chopper, 80% are Canadian bands. This in particular is an epic song. Triumph, Rush, and on and on.
Saw them at at a small bar around ten years ago. When they played Fly At Night i got up and stood about 5 ft from Bill during the entire song. It was AWESOME
Just found this and it's still a timeless Canadian R&R wonder!!! I first heard this track on the radio in Wausau, Wisconsin in the mid seventies... nothing but Awesomeness!!!
One of my favourite songs of all time! I remember hearing this and falling in love instantly. Still spreading this song to as many people as I can as I grow older.
One of my fav all time bands so many good songs and sad to have seen the early passing of one of my fav axe men to loud McLeod miss him 148 heavy …..🇨🇦🇨🇦🇨🇦 5:08
Bill's voice was a little strained at this performance but that don't matter. Still a great song and performance. Just wish Ross Turney was still around though.
I find it very disheartening that with our vast collection of acclaimed Canadian musicians with their incredible songs? Canadian radio programming, in their infinite idiocy of how to perform their jobs, instead play the same freaking song until you literally scream in outrage and frustration. They are geniuses at only one thing. KILLING A GREAT SONG BY REPETITIVE PLAY. 💩😒😳😬
Dont get me wrong, these guys belong up there with the greats, but vocal wise and harmonies, this is not acceptable.I ve seen many live shows with musicians going on their 70’s,and that, not tuned down at all, with a little help of couple backup singers,They manage to play very close to the original....for god sake, tickets go by at 100$ these days!!give us a good show,no matter how good the playing is,you need good vocals,or dont play at all!,...imho!
