From the Direct-To-Disc album "Tommy Newsom - Live From Beautiful Downtown Burbank". This is known to be a totally live performance because of the way Direct-To-Disc albums were made - each side was recorded as one continuous take - no punch-ins were possible. Doc picked up his horn and played this.

I purchased this album back in 1978. Haven't heard this in quite a while due to my turntable collecting dust somewhere in my house. Thanks so much for sharing - it still sounds Great! BTW Tommy Newsom wrote and arranged this as he did for many of the Tonight Show Band's performances. What an excellent musician/arranger he was. Rest in Peace Sir.

I have a comedy album from like 1964...Allen Sherman and the Boston Pops live - "Thomas Newsom" is credited as the clarinet/sax player.

Thank you for this one. I've been looking for it for a long time. Doc sounds great on this...He has a such a great and distinctive sound, especially when he takes a lead role near the end of the piece.
