Chimpanzee experience in Kibale forest, Uganda. An easy trek into the forest to find the very vocal groups of chimpanzees. These are habituated primates unlike the chimps of Bwindi who remain deep in the forest away from people where all you can hear is there calls in the distance. The experience lasts for four hours and you follow them round whilst they feed and rest. The chimps will walk within very close proximity when they come down from the trees but are intelligent enough to know we do not pose a threat.
The Primate Lodge staff make you very welcome and take exceptional care of there guests. We spent a couple of nights here but easily could have stayed a week. There a several different species of primates around the lodge which are easily spotted and a number of different bird species, which are not so easy to spot. Surprisingly little animal activity was seen on our night walk into the forest unlike in Borneo.
