In the pass 2 months that I have been doing your classes online, I have learnt more yoga than in the past 15 years that I have been practicing. Thank you.
OMG I DID IT!!!!!! Thank you so much! I was watching some of your videos and this pose seemed very intimidating. Watching this video really put it into perspective and I was able to do it. I actually only have one block that I use to extend my stretches, so I placed that at the base of my throat and balanced on my chest at first. But then, I removed the block and I did full chin stand with scorpion on the ground! I am SO EXCITED!! Thank you!! Great video :O) Stefanni
Your tutorials are now responsible for another major breakthrough in my practice. Thank you so much for taking the time to do these!!! I posted a video on instagram and gave you all the credit which you so richly deserve!
I have to say I tried your technique and got it in first try. I had been working on this for a a while but was having trouble. Thank you so very much for this amazing technique.. Kindly share more on peacock pose, the real Mayurasana where your elbows are tucked into your abdomen and your body is almost parallel to the floor.. I would be so grateful. Many thanks.
Love this tutorial!!! I've been trying to advance my practice and love your channel and style (I like how playful and mindful you are). Thank you so much!! Your tips are golden:)
Leigha, I've been waiting for this video, Thank you so much, you are such a wonderful teacher. This video is so helpful. Your backbend is good. I think will take some time for me to achieve that.
Hey, strange question- I'm 35, have had headaches etc since I was around 14. Don't worry about it, but it's context for what I'm going to ask. So, a little over a year ago, I started to medicate with cannabis, and suddenly I wanted to practice yoga, martial arts, and qigong ALL THE TIME. I just wanted to, so I did... like, 2-4 hours a day typically, 6 days a week. It was awesome. Recently I had to quit, and now my headaches are back etc, but more notably, I have no motivation to practice anything, and I honestly don't have the same amount of patience when I actually do practice. It's just awful. I'm not asking how to be more disciplined, because that's BS. Now that I've tasted what it's like to actually train because I enjoy it, (not because I'm just being disciplined), I want that back. Do you have any ideas? I really want to just start vaping weed again, but my situation doesn't allow it at the moment. There's got to be some other natural way...?.?.? I used to force myself all the time, before I discovered what it's like to be pain free and motivated. It's just not the same. Please, any advice?
I think the key is to fall in love with sensory input -- the feeling of how your breath changes the shape of your body, how you can sense oxygen deprivation and oxygen overdose, how the air feels on your skin, how clothes feel on your skin, where your joints are in space, how your relationship with gravity is a playful one. Get absorbed in the feeling of your physical body and then try to pretend that it extends into the external atmosphere. Get totally and fully immersed and absorbed in corporeal sensations, and get wayyy out of your head. Don't impose anything on yourself, such as how many sun salutes to do (if any at all), a duration of time, or even certain poses. Just move your body, gently, slowly, or wildly--whatever's coming naturally. The key is to be emBODIED not imprisoned in your head. Your body WANTS to move, it NEEDS to move. Your lungs CRAVE more air exchange. You've seen it yourself that you have the capacity to self-heal when you've got a regular yoga/movement/breath thing going. It comes easy when you've smoked, apparently. Now the question is, can you become intimate with the vibrancy, nuance, and eternal mystery of being alive?
Leigha Butler Thanks Leigha. Honestly, your description is poetic enough that I kinda want to get up and do something right now. I've been practicing (mostly neigong/qigong) for about 11 years, and I'm very good at it once I get going, but this is the part I struggle with most. I THINK YOU'RE 100% RIGHT, I'm typically in my head. When I vape (no smoke for me ;) I'm suddenly there, in the now, and I'm able to enjoy even just the simplest movement, stretch, or breathing, so I patiently warm up and build energy. I can't stop myself from having a great training session following that if I try! Right now though, it's like what you're saying. I don't enjoy each moment and breath, I don't slowly build up my energy. I, instead, impatiently rush towards my peak performance, and never reach it... which makes me depressed, and then I don't feel like training at all. It's like, I'm really good at some really advanced stuff, but I'm lacking this simple basic necessity to get there most of the time. I didn't really even know what I was missing until I started to naturally do it when I started cannabis. I really think I have a deficiency in my natural endocannabinoid system, which is probably why cannabis works so well for me. I'd really like to create a qigong/yoga set that directly increases natural bodily cannabinoids, so I don't need to rely on external herbal sources. Maybe I'm overthinking it though. I'm going to keep your words in mind, today, and see if I can let my body figure things out by just being there in it. Thank you for taking the time to write things out so thoughtfully. I'll let you know if your words effect my practice.
Well Leigha, you got me off my ass, and I did some practice, and it went better than expected, although still not the same ...but I appreciate that you got me moving today, and your advice did improve the situation for sure.

I've been trying to incorporate chin stand to my flow, and I'm able to do it with the blocks! Trying to build the strength and confidence to do it without the blocks, and I actually toppled forward because I was pulling so hard with my dominant leg trying to get my second leg up! Not hurt, but definitely feeling less confident after that. How do I wean myself off the blocks?
Do it so many times with the blocks (with both sides/legs!) that you literally grow bored with how easy it is. Like 100s of times... You’ll get it. Share how it’s going!
