Look, where is everyone? It’s the Mid-Autumn Festival, but the supermarket is empty. Normally, this place would be packed during the holidays. Maybe everyone is shopping online now, not even stepping outside. I just came out to buy some steamed buns; otherwise, I wouldn’t have come out in this heat. Maybe it's because the kids are back in school, so fewer families are out shopping. But just because kids are back in school, does that mean parents stop eating and drinking? Or maybe after paying for school fees, no one has money left to spend, and people are unwilling to buy anything. It’s really tough for physical stores this year; business is hard, and no one wants to spend money. Even I don’t want to spend much-I'm only buying a steamed bun for dinner. I won’t even splurge on snacks. Physical stores are really going under.

that empty store in the first clip is wild - I've only ever seen a store as deserted at like 2am, and even then there's still some people there. classifying cities as "1st tier" or "4th tier" is really weird. does any other country do that? what do the mooncake vendors do with the extra stock? freeze them for next year? make mooncake hooch? composting?

Hello from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. I went to a large Chinese supermarket near me and was disgusted by how their "eating?" turtles were kept. They were crowded in three inches of dirty water, and their noses were all bitten off and scarred. I wanted to buy and take all the poor creatures home as pets. When I saw the condition of their live seafood, I got out of the store, QUICK! It made me sad and sick.

Many of the mooncakes can't be exported because of toxic levels of preservatives used. There are many more vids on this channel just about mooncakes. There has also been a lot of recent food safety scandals, things like fake rice, fake eggs, mass contaminated cooking oil, toxic farming practices growing melons, etc.
