Zhongdong Village, or Middle Cave, is China’s last cave village.
It was built after the founding of the People's Republic of China in 1949 by Miao ethnic minorities to evade bandits.
For nearly seven decades, the villagers have lived off the land and maintained an agrarian lifestyle.
But they might be soon forced to relocate by Chinese authorities aiming to ‘eliminate poverty’ by 2020.

No government should spent millions to built roads through mountainous region to help only a few people. They will never do that in the U.S. As for the culture and history, its only since the 1940s when China was chaotic during WW2. 24 families Miao tribe where trying to hide form bandits, not the entire tribe. From what I understand is that these people were offered housing in lower areas where the infrastructure is already in place.

@shrags1

Only difference is, skills can be nurtured, and while getting used to a cave lifestyle in a fully naturalistic environment grows on you, one can't run from the fact that it's unhealthy to live tribal and cut off from the world like that. And that takes a toll on anyone mentally, especially while comprehending that there are available alternatives. This is I'm sure it's complicated but to me it sounds like there's anxiety more than anything, they wouldn't move in because of the way the houses were built, yeah right.. how minimalist of you

You know kid, 20 years back I was like you, you are just young and fresh and you have ideas and are angry. It's not bad how you feel, it's good. I give you a piece of advice, you should go and live somewhere else for at least 10 years, go to work, pay taxes, get a mortgage and raise a kid ot two (not like a student), then you would understand what real stress is in life and how it works. I live in Europe, other family members are in US, I think you should try one or two of these places and do what I said, I won't recommend you to go to Israel (it's desert, dangerous, women forces carrying automatic weapons on street, it's not funny, been there). To practice your democratic idea you better choose Europe like France, or US, better for you. You know China is not a perfect place to live but it's improving. Democracy is just cocaine, and we just increase our dosage by the day. One day you will understand.

Because I thought it like you 20 years ago, I made my choice and built my life and had my family... Now I am working for Chinese and going back to China very often and see it's changing. I am not at the point to give up all my built up life and assets go back to China to restart from zero. But one day as my wife sais (she's European), if it goes really too bad here: islamization, shrinking social warefare, strikes, etc... we will be gone. I just hope it won't come soon. Forget about socialism, capitalism, blablabla. It's rule or been ruled, only matters if its works or it's melting down. I really hope you can move to Europe or US, living in it, it will really help you to understand. It was great, it was like paradise back in 90s, even unemployed people receive social house like a villa, but these days are long gone, and people don't even talk about future anymore like phobia. I don't need you to believe me, but please come and see by yourself.

Whenever technology makes us able to provide proof of alternate theories about some ancient civilizations which make much more sense than the history books, we will find ourselfs drowning in new discoveries. For example once drone/remote control robot technology moves further, we can just smuggle a camera into ancient sites that have obvious underground structures which have been blocked off and never officially been investigated. Here's an article from 2018 about the Amazonas discovery: Analysis of satellite images and drone footage has revealed an extensive, pre-Colombian settlement dating back to 1250‒1500 A.D. At their height, as many as one million people may have lived in these settlements, according to the study published Tuesday in the journal Nature Communications. “Many parts of the Americas now thought of as pristine forest are really abandoned gardens,” Christopher Fisher, a Colorado State University archaeologist who was not associated with the study, told the Wall Street Journal. “When you are on the ground, you cannot really see the landscape. You need a bird’s-eye view.” The last part is kind of cringey because a lot of the "discoveries" we made recently and will make in the future which we "cannot really see" have year old youtube videos about them so in reality the ignorance has other causes. There are countless ancient mega structures that archeologists and history books pretend were created by nature.

Very confusing and spiritually degrading if you ask me. People often tell me just to ignore it, there is nothing i can do about it, huh? @nathandenault3136
@nathandenault3136 6 лет назад
Lawrence Wong If you call destroying over 5,000 years of culture in just half a decade good leadership, I don’t know how to help you. What’s left of actual Chinese culture now that the CCP has had its way with things? The Chinese wear Western clothing, shake hands as a greeting instead of bowing, govern themselves with and ideology invented by a German, their marching style is copied off of the Prussian Stechschritt, their military uniforms are based off of the USSR, all of their modernized buildings are built in western fashion, and they don’t even follow their great leader Mao Zedong’s teachings anymore. Chairman Deng threw Mao’s ideology out the window. China is in many ways more capitalist than The West. That’s why China is the world’s biggest polluter. Party bosses and corrupt CEO’s rule China. All of China’s previous emperors are spinning in their graves. Chairman Mao probably would be too. However in his case, he would be rolling in a glass box.
