'Given the Chinese penchant for saying one thing and doing the exact opposite, we must approach the latest development on LAC agreement with India, however good they might seem, with abundant caution', says former Army Chief General Manoj Mukund Naravane (Retd) in his column, as he explains why India shouldn't be lulled into a false sense of security.

This time Chinese won't back out. However, after one year they will come back to occupy Ladakh and Arunachal. As usual Indian Army will be caught napping and political class will be blind .

Actually there is no Indo China border. It is Indo Tibet borders only. Since China as an aggressor, illegally occupied and annexed Tibet, now we face Indo China border dispute. To my mind, India should tell China that India would talk to Tibetian group of leaders on the border issue and agree for the settlement of pre 1947 era . China should not involve in border issue. All the occupied areas in 1962 war should restored to India. This is how India should settle border issue . Will Modi and Jai take this point.

Thanks to Trudeau's expert diplomacy, India is fast-tracking its border settlement with China. With that out of the way, India has a clear shot at a permanent seat on the UNSC-especially with the U.S., U.K., and France cheering from the sidelines. In 1960, Chinese Premier Zhou Enlai proposed a compromise to resolve the India-China border dispute, suggesting that China would recognize India's claim to the eastern sector (Arunachal Pradesh) if India acknowledged Chinese control over Aksai Chin in the western sector. This "package deal" aimed to settle the boundary by dividing the contested areas between the two countries, with China prioritizing Aksai Chin for its strategic link between Tibet and Xinjiang. However, Indian Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru rejected the proposal, as he was unwilling to return any territory gained by lines drawn by its former colonial master. The U.S. maintained its embargo on China during the Great Chinese Famine (1959-1961) discouraging other nations from sending food, while millions died of starvation. Confident that China is weakened and will collapse, India implemented its "Forward Policy", expecting a weak Chinese response. If this border issue had been resolved in 1960, the past 64 years of mutual suspicion and distrust might have been avoided. China does not view any country as an adversary and is open to collaboration and partnership with all nations. Anywhere in the world, if there is a border dispute, it is usually the result of a line drawn by an Englishman; if it is an internal dispute, it is usually the US fueling it with diplomatic, financial, covert, and military support. Difference in implementation of divide and conquer strategy.

The chinese came into galwan after a senior politician from the ruling party, was chest thumping in the parliament, about his intention to reclaim PoK. It was empty words without preparation, & which china took it as a declaration of war. This disengagement has nothing to do with Indian responses/price, & is rather because of China's internal politics related to Xi. On our eastern flank, in Manipur, the situation remains volatile, due to ethnic violence between the communities. As vishwamitra, first build unity in our Manipur. The poor handling of Manipur's unrest has been going poorly; which has raised questions about this senior politician's competency in our nation's security. This criticism on Manipur is coming from the rss chief. Such level has NEVER happened in history of Manipur. While, in our western flank, this senior politician has not been able to handle his responsibilities to counter the pak-sponsoredterrorgroups that infiltrate drugs & weapons into India via drones, tunnels, & riverine routes along India's western border. China's default approach involves sweet talk about mutual peace, but their actions speak differently. Xi focus was on purely gaining territories, disregarding the cost for their troops. In 2020, their actions in galwan violated treaty rules & aimed to replicate '62. Fortunately, our brave soldiers foiled their acts. It's crucial to remember that China's history is all fabricated, their territorial claims are all calculated scams. Their system prioritizes party & leaders image, over the well-being of chinese citizens. China views India through a unique lens, viewing India as inferior, not a competitor. They criticize India over caste, yet it has not been successful in creating a classless society in their nation. When China looks down on India, it only reveals China condition about their own inadequacy. Chinese inferiority complex leads them to belittling their fellow nations. Bodhidharma was Indian, Marx wasn't Chinese. China lacks balance & human spiritual growth. They lecture others on communism's greatness while ignoring their own weaknesses. As China is a one-party state, they can delete all opposition. They spend more on internal security compared to their military. Instead of acknowledging their past mistakes & errors that they make, they love to blame the West for unfair advantages since WW2, forgetting the US saved them from Japan.

We Chinese believe that the only criterion for judging whether a government is qualified is whether it always puts the interests of the people first. In China, all children study in school, and there is no child who is out of school. In China, women are respected and women are "half the sky". In China, everyone is equal, and everyone has the opportunity to be promoted through their own efforts. In contrast, India is politically chaotic and turbulent, with many social contradictions, extremely poor public security, prevalent terrorism, and a very low status for women. Groups of out-of-school children are begging on the streets. India's hunger index ranks at the bottom of the world. Because of the oppression of the caste system, India has lost countless talents. India's freedom and democracy are just a facade. It is a tool for high Indians to rule low Indians. China completely surpasses India in all aspects, whether it is politics, economy, education, science and technology, environmental sanitation, military, sports, people's quality, and so on.

Recently I read the external minister praising army/ military for desecalation which you missed and you couldn't despite the complete freedom from govt, how did the current military resolve which you couldn't do don't u think u failed the country although it was time consuming u did nothing

It is not about him. China also has to agree. China is agreeing now, because of following reasons:- Their economy is slowed down. Donald Trump has good chance if winning, and then he will put tariffs on China. So, China suddenly is afraid, and wants to make friends. But if Trump loses, or China thinks their economy is recovering, then this deal could be off.

The Indian army is the worst army among all China's opponents. China's war of resistance against Japan lasted 14 years, the Chinese civil war lasted 4 years, the Korean War lasted 3 years, China's self-defense counterattack against Vietnam lasted 2 months, and China's border war with Vietnam lasted 10 years. India's understanding of "war" is too narrow. We Chinese believe that India has never experienced a real war. In 1962, in the eyes of the Chinese, it was not a war, it was just an armed conflict between China and India. In 1962, the short armed conflict of only 32 days continued India's nightmare for decades. What makes the Chinese feel funny is that a border conflict has turned India into a "Battle for the Defense of the Capital of New Delhi".

This being the first step, i don't know why we are celebrating and calling it a great diplomatic and political success. The most realistic and appropriate response was from the present Army Chief. Can you trust China. No. Probably our political leadership wants FDI from China to give a push to our economy, as was suggested in the economic survey preceding the annual budget. So hold your horses. Let the guards be on. Let political leaders celebrate to boost the image of our PM before Maharashtra elections.

And gap between border infra of India and China was larger back then. So, it is possible for China to move in quickly. In fact, when the first disengagement happened in 2020, at Pangong, India was astonished, how quickly they retreated.
