while you 2 are crossing roads, just to let you know China protects its citizens life to the max that no matter how wrong a person is on roads, when there is an accident, cars are always at fault to a certain point fact check please
The restaurant you went to owns by a food critic/novel writer/film producer/travel journalist, the coconut soup is great for your health especially in Winter season.
@@kimquan1373 If you like seeing people and shopping in different styles then China is the place, but if you like hiding inside your basement, not seeing people and shopping at inflated prices, then Canada is the place. Actually many things at Dollar Rama are cheaper than in China, though those things are made in China. Dollar Rama is the best place for cheapie shopping in Canada. Another good thing about buying from Dollar Rama is items can be returned or refunded if you don't like them, but mostly can't do that in China. Somehow Dollar Rama can get things so cheap from China that even the local retailers in China can't get so cheap or that they are inflating the prices. No wonder Dollar Rama is so successful.
@@DarwinMagsinoChina is still 20 years behind Europe and the United States. China is like an upstart. It still has many problems to overcome. India will surpass China in 10 years.
Just a small correction, “lunar new year” is a false statement as the chinese new year and the entire 24 solar terms are calculated based on a solar-lunar calendar, not just the moon. It’s quite a complicated process.
that soup is not fish and grapes 😂, but is coconut soup with chicken where its feathers are white but its flesh is black(silkie chicken). And the "grapes" are actually red dates.
Hi, Nice to see you again, it's really nice places to visit in China, so clean so beautiful scenery and the friendliest Chinese people, after watching your videos I'm decided to make a plan to visit China, Love you both guys and wishing you have a great day😊
Welcome! Before you come make sure you prepared: set up an VPN to connect to google, set up Alipay and WeChat link to your credit card or debt card learn about China's mobile pay system, learn a few mandarin like "where is the toilet", "how much is it", and most importantly don't be afraid to try new dishes you will be amazed.
More clicks if reporting from China because of all the lies in western media, people are interested. I mostly subscribe for China vlogs as I love the progress they make in China, it's fascinating.
@@sunkissedbucketlistthe best shopping mall brand in china is SKP group. it is the very top of the line shopping mall in the world. SKP group only has 3 malls in Beijing, Xi'an, Chengdu( the one with bamboo fountain). SKP Beijing shopping mall has been the world number 1 in sales revenue for years. "SKP-S" building has some futuristic vendors & strange decoration as for the best mall in China, it depends on what you want to do in a mall. there are many types of shopping malls in china nowadays. some are for selling luxury brand products. some malls are for average middle malls shopping. some malls are for art works. some shopping malls are for children entertainment which has skating ring, water park, indoor ski slope, indoor surfing, indoor amusement park, pets cafe...... in Beijing, i think Parkview Green mall(a mall for useless artistic stuffs) & Beijing Small mall are interesting malls. and Taikoo-li in Sanlitun district is the most famous young fashion street in beijing. u can search them on youtube.
Xian is definitely the place you will see a lot of Chinese people wear traditional dresses especially at this famous place called Grand Tang Mall, a must visit tourist spot at night if you are in Xian (but it could be super crowded this time of the year). I"d also suggest Guilin Yangshuo (you two can ride an electric scooter around town for a lot of fun) and Yunnan in the south, both are very famous and popular tourist cities/towns in southern China and they will give you a completely different feel than the rest of the country, just check the weather to make sure it's not rainning before going there.
The most luxurious shopping mall in Beijing is SKP (Shin Kong Place) mall, the most trendy and fun one is Beijing Parkview Green. Also the meat in the coconut soup is not fish, it's black skin chicken. Enjoy Beijing!
Welcome back, China is as big as the whole of Europe. Besides the big cities, there are also many incredible natural scenery. I hope they will also have the opportunity to be on your list.Have fun with the Chinese new year.
The shopping mall "Dayue City" you guys visited is my favorite place to go when I was in Beijing. Pick a restaurant at 6F - 8F, have a delicious meal. After that, walk those shops with cup of milk tea. Can't be more relax!
hopefully you were able to check out more of the cultural areas like the one you were in tianjin. in beijing, there are lots of hutongs which are basically neighborhood blocks. there are some that are very commercial but most are literally residential blocks with local bars, cafes, and restaurants mixed in. you can look these up to get an idea so when you travel to another city in china, you can look for similar places to explore. some beijing hutongs: nanluoguxiang, wudaoying, beixin, bada, beihai lake hutong. some of the more local ones have really authentic and cheaper food compared to ones in western style malls.
The KFC in China is all different between any other country, to much locally food chose, best suggest in Thursday, they call " crazy thursday", crazy discount. for breakfast, you can try "hu guo si" snack, there have very lovly local breakfast.
Good choice for the dim sum place ! Chua Lam is a famous food commentator in China ( a bit like Gordon Ramsay in the UK), the dim sum in that restaurant is authentic. Btw the “fish” in the coconut soup is actually dark chicken, their meat is more tender than regular chicken so can be a bit confusing😂.
I only know Wangfujing and Sanlitun shopping districts. Xidan is a new discovery for me. Thank you for it. Btw, I recommend you visit Liangmahe river at night.
As I watch your latest vlog, we're waiting for my brother in law to pick us up and drive us to Shanghai. Will have lunch upon arrival at I hope my favorite restaurant chain in China "Xibei". We'll be there for about 8 days before returning here to Jiaxing. If by any chance you're heading back to Shanghai let me know I'd love to meet up with you guys and take you to one of our favorite places to eat if you there at the same time as us.
This is so true in Beijing😂😂. No driver stops for pedestrians. During the Spring Festival many people leave Beijing for their home town to spend time with their families. Normally there are way more people in Xi Dan than in the video.
Enjoy your time in China!!!I'd like to recommend you to visit my hometown city Chongqing and its neighbor Chengdu where I spent my last four years in university. We have spicy hotpot and lovely pandas. The night scenery in Chongqing also attract many visitors.Milktea enough!Anyway, looking forward to your future travels!!!
As a Beijinger, the best high end mall in Beijing is SKP also know as "新光天地“, it's been outpacing Harrods in sales since the pandemic. There's a newly opened SKP-S, which is more fun and younger version right cross the street. Other honorable mention: China world mall in Guomao and Parkview Green in Fangcaodi. Most of the foreign brands from high end to fast fashion have a higher price tag in China due to multiple reasons (duty, branding strategy, etc.) Btw, "蔡澜" Chua Lam is a famous food critic from Singapore and living in Hongkong. So you guys made a good choice.
Guangzhou has both old and modern dim sum restaurants, it's where dim sum and most Chinese cuisines originated. Shenzhen is a huge new city, it also has many good quality restaurants but prices are a bit more expensive than Guangzhou.
The China World Mall at Guomao metro stop is probably one of, if not the most impressive malls I have ever seen. It has all the luxury brands (anything you can name) inside plus numerous smaller shops, and of course tons of restaurants, cafes, bars like all other malls in China, on top of a few 5-star hotels😂
the yummy soup you have is good for your healthy, especially for woman during her speical time every month. If you feel pain, this soup can heal you, make you feel warm and better.
I really like your videos in China! I remember that some charging stations will have a temporary charging cable on the side just in case the phone is out of power and cannot scan the QR code. Haha, happy Year of the Dragon!😄
Mall recommendation: He Sheng Hui: A relatively new mall but become very very popular in recent years, Lots of food. Qiao Fu Fang Cao Di: Very morden and very artsy, lots of sculpture and art works in display. Also lots of food. Beijjng SKP: High-end mall famous for expensive brands. Lots of nice cars in underground parking lot. San Li Tun Tai Koo Li: An open area with different stores rather than one large building. It's the best shopping center in my opinion. Yi Ti Gang: Simallir to He Sheng Hui but less people, good place for food. Dong Fang Xin Tian Di (Oriental Plaza): Near Wang Fu Jing, it has less floors but each floor is very large it almost covers the distance between metro stations.
Regarding KFC, Chinese people treat it as fast food, which saves time. But the Chinese also attach great importance to the health of the diet, so many people over 30 years old rarely eat fried food like KFC. Of course, in order to change the impression of fried food, KFC and McDonald's have added a lot of local foods, such as porridge in breakfast.
yeah about the rights of way thingy - we are still learning :P the best approach is to walk only after the traffic slows down or stops. Don't always assume they would yield even if you rightfully have the right of way.
Chua Lam is a Singaporean columnist, food critic, and occasional television host based in Hong Kong. He was also a movie producer for the Hong Kong movie studio Golden Harvest. Chua Lam Hong Kong-style dim sum" is a dim sum brand created by Chua Lam himself. It focuses on Hong Kong-style refreshments.
Hello, I am a college student from Tianjin . If I had paid attention to you earlier, I could have invited you to my home to celebrate the Chinese New Year. If there is a chance, I hope I can invite you to our school or my home next time to celebrate this festival together🎉🎉
Wow, I can't believe there are so many huge shopping malls in Beijing. So many delicious foods are so cheap that you can save a lot of money. Xi 'an is an ancient capital, Chongqing is the city of Cyberpunk, and Guilin is a beautiful landscape. You must go and see it.
I enjoy watching your videos and your fans comment. They give you so much information and I have learned a lot. Your choice of food is always very good and looks tasty. I wonder if you have some local people telling you what is good.
Thanks for the upload been waiting to see your new one but gotta say you both look tired, but keeping up the spirit, travelling can be hardwork, take care and keep warm xxx
The restaurant you entered is owned by Chua Lam, a famous Chinese foodie from Hong Kong. That restaurant specializes in Cantonese cuisine, which is not spicy but delicious. And Dim sum is a part of Cantonese cuisine.
For the phone power banks that you can rent, there is usually a short cable attached to it with multiple heads to charge your phone. They are for the exact situation you were in. Charge your phone until it powers back on and rent a power bank
In most areas of Beijing, cars are actually not allowed to honk their horns. Only when the car in front does something dangerous, the car behind will honk to remind you. For example, the silver-white car at the back in the video just now braked and stopped suddenly when the car in front was turning and almost hit it. That's why the horn was honked at this sudden stop.
Excellent video!!! As a local resident living in Beijing, i recommend the following malls ‘China world mall’ and ‘SKP’ these two malls are the most fancy ones, included many luxury brands. They are both in chaoyang district near the CBD area. Btw For the most popular malls i recommend 北京荟聚(Livat)and合生汇(Hopson One)these two malls are always busy during weekends and weekday nights. Also looking forward for you guys to try KFC and McDonald’s in China,we offer some special menu here. Wish you have a pleasant journey ❤❤ Happy Chinese New Year 🏮🇨🇳
From my own experience travelling to different places incl China and comparing the prices, international brands have very little price differentials. While China is known more for producing really cheap but not very durable stuff (which is ok if it's that cheap and can at least last a year or so), it's less known for producing the high end stuff which is of high quality (but definitely not cheap!).
You ordered some sort of kale vegetable catfish belly dish, coconut stewed chicken and I think hibiscus egg rolls to loosely translate. And you ordered mint coke. This place at the food court I think own by a Hong Kong food critic, Chua Lam. Most of Chinese vegetable and food unfortunately don't have a common English name.
The restaurant you've chosen is a well-known chain! It offers authentic Southern flavours, specialising in Cantonese dim sum. The name of the restaurant includes "Chua Lam" is a renowned gourmet.
The Dim Sum place you went to. Chua Lan is a famous food critic in Hong Kong. You were in a Guangdong style Dim Sum restaurant. I'm from Hong Kong. We have this kind of Dim Sum all the time. You should try Shrimp Dumplings and Chicken feet in black bean sauce(if you can handle😂).
The eatery that you went to specializes in southern cuisine, more specifically Hong Kong style dim-sum. You should have told us the cost of your dinner, by the way. Another great video as always; thank you for posting.
