China's massive "Eye of Heaven" telescope now open to international scientists

Nestled shining and silent in the forested limestone hills of remote southwest China, the world's biggest single-dish radio telescope is now opening to international scientists. The massive telescope, called "Eye of Heaven," spans the length of more than five football fields. Ramy Inocencio gets a firsthand look.

the creators of the new radio telescope bought the radio telescope from arecibo years ago but it was really deteriorated because the money that was supposed to go to the radio telescope was stolen by the governer Ricardo Rocello and his crew and in puerto rico's economy it's better to let it rust away than to restored but puerto ricans are trying to make a new one

FAST excels in its sensitivity and vast collecting area, which enables it to detect weak signals from distant celestial objects. However, its primary function is different from the radar-based capabilities of Arecibo. If they wanted to, m sure they'd have done it.
