I am an American. I love the Chinese culture. Every time I hear about instances in which a country is invaded I cringe. The acts that have occurred against China in the recent past (by that I do mean 1800's and on) are horrific and unjustifiable. I hope and believe that China is making such a powerful presentation of force to show that they are no longer the pushover nation that many powers used to think they were/are. It's about respect, not war.

I won't blame China , not the least for wanting to take control of the South China Sea now that it has the resources to do that. Just think of the humiliation it received when it was attacked by the West a few hundred years ago, the Opium War is a good example. And they all came towards China from the Straits of Malacca if not from other directions. As a matter of self preservation, what would you do if you are in China's shoes that you now have the capacity to protect yourself from any future attack?

It correlates but it isn't the entire reason for it. That's only part of the reason. The main reason is to fend off the United States from their front door which is why they are so aggressive towards South China sea. They are trying to force the US to move back to the 2nd island chains so they are further away from China's mainland. One for protection, two for dominance in the region. It's a battle of great powers as it always has been throughout history. America won the cold war which is why they control the world (including Asia) Before China's rise no country on Earth dared to challenge the US. (except for the countries that US was already messing with/trying to invade) And everyone knows Asia is the future of the global economy, so basically in the 21st century if you lose Asia you're no longer going to be a super power.

I doubt the US Troops is superior to the chinese ones. Chinese troops are disiplined every moment of their military lives and are constantly pushed to the point of the human body. US soldiers, well, other than those few weeks at the begining of their military career, are not able to be compared with the disipline and the endurance of chinese soldiers.
current usa combat troops indured far more on front lines and seen more shit than chinese troops that only march, also if u think chinise military training is some extreme shit i suggest u to check other countrys military trainings, chinas training is nothing special its nice and powerful army but their training is not above any other modern top militarys.
What do you see on the front lines? A few soldiers swearing and joking and occasionaly shooting at something. Chinese troops fought as much as Americans during World war 2, Korean war. Unlike America, China did not invade and take over other countries. You live up to your name.
