It takes two to tango. Instead of threatening Taiwan with "join or else" how about some friendly gestures and start meeting each other half way. That means accepting Taiwan as a Democratic nation and not trying to assimilate and destroy their identity. If you want that to change then it shouldn't be unreasonable for the CCP to reform some of there ways as well.

@@GREATESTGREAT2023 Who gave China the right to determine/define Taiwan's democracy? I never dictated what who should do what, all I said is to expect to do the same things you want Taiwan to do which is only reasonable. You can act like China doesn't assimilate and destroy identities or maybe you just don't know but its very easy to learn about. Take for instance Hong Kong, the people wanted to be independent and have there own identity but we all know how that turned out.

@@GREATESTGREAT2023 We can call China democratic, but true democracy doesn't mean stomping out opposition and keeping people on there toes for fear of the state. If you think a country that bans Winnie The Poo because of a joke is democratic then you yourself should learn what democracy means instead of usurping a word and trying to make it into something entirely else.

Taiwan is Taiwan, an independent country, a Democracy and Freedom country, shares the same value with the rest of world. Taiwanese vote for their own president and legislators. Taiwan has her own currency, govt, defence force, passport, territory, people, sovereignty. Taiwan people decide their own policies by their Congress and how their tax$ goes, never in a single day paying tax$ to dictatorship PRC CCPchina. Covid-19 started in PRC CCPchina.

I am from mainland, but I totally understand Taiwanese's feel about the relationship between Taiwan and mainland in the recent history. Whenever Taiwanese needed help from motherland, mainland couldn't give Taiwanese enough help! All mainland people know the helpless feeling in the past. But Chinese Nation fortunately had Deng Xiaoping. He totally changed mainland and brought bright future to mainland also the whole Chinese Nation. One Country Two Systems is actually Deng's stepping stone to a democratic capitalism China! You can't imagine when Mao found out Deng's thought to prefer capitalism to socialism (Deng even openly disagreed with Mao about Cultural Revolution), Deng was purged twice during Cultural Revolution. Look forward, all Chinese Nation will be united! We will realize a rich, democratic and free unified China at about the middle of this century!

I visited Taiwan twice and Mainland maybe 5 times. Today they are so similar and complementary. They have the same culture, the same root, the same language of course. Once upon the time, Taiwan was very advanced compare to the Mainland, at that moment they feared to be reunited with the Mainland. But now the Mainland becomes one the the most advanced country in the world. There is no subject for fear anymore. They both are the same side of the coin. :)

@@kylorokx1552 Because they are Chinese! Taiwanese (residence not an ethnic group) and Chinese we are brothers! Miserably we get two governments because of civil war! But for sure our motherland will be reunified! Chinese government is striving to create conditions for a peaceful reunification of our motherland, including we want to modernize first, then democratize at about the middle of this century! Peaceful reunification needs time!
