The Chinas Oaxaqueñas are part of every Oaxaca fiesta. Does anyone know their origin? If you do, please comment. I'm assuming they are Oaxaca's version of Chinas Poblanas, the traditional dress of Puebla women. I've heard that this traje (dress) originated in the Philippines when the Spanish trade galleons brought women to New Spain, landing in the port of Acapulco. The mantilla and rebozo fringes originated in Asia and became part of the Spanish costume after the conquest.
