Chindongo saulosi (Pseudotropheus) spitting out fry...and swallowing them back up!

The Chindongo Saulosi in my 60 african cichlid mbuna tank are growing up. One is almost all the way blue and another is starting to color change. The females have been holding. I caught some good (and some not so good) footage of my female saulosi giving birth (spitting out her fry) then she would let them back in her mouth!

I have separate the pregnant feemale in a smaller tank. Now i see another feemale carying frys. Can i place them together or they wil eat eachother fry?

Sorry, thought I had replied. Probably a bit late now, but in my experience the females will not each others fry…however, if they are in a small tank together, they will fight each other. Again, just my experience. Hope it went well for you. One option I’ve used is getting a tank divider for the small tanks when more than one female is holding at the same time. Another strategy (which I don’t like to do) is manually “stripping” one of the females “opening her mouth and making her spit her babies”

The Saulosi are coming in nicely. Do you live within the EU? I have some great looking classic mbuna species i don't mind shipping out for you to enjoy. Namely Metriaclima Estherae "Minos Reef" F1s with MC OB and some good looking Yellow Labs also F1. Let me know. Keep up the videos!
