Comprehensive and 'without any clutter' analysis of the Ladakh situation by Jayadeva Ranade. The Print ought to conduct such interviews on regular basis. What comes out clearly is the fact that our political leadership and the army have what it takes to face squarely with the Chinese. As a young kid who experienced the emotional trauma of 1962 defeat at the hand of Chinese, I now feel that India has come to a point (after Dokhlam and in particular after Ladakh incident) that the fear of the dragon is now disappeared and there is a sense of strong confidence for dealing with the Chinese. This is definitely a great feeling!

What remains intriguing is why India remains so squeamish in its response to the border incursion of China this time when they had stood their ground in Doklam in 2017? China has been playing the role of an adversary in every international forum against India, stands with Pakistan, may it be our entry into NSG or the issue of Masood Azhar. They have 'heated our enemy (Pakistan) and cooled our friend (Nepal)' as Shakespeare would term it. When India withdrew Article 370 and 35A from JK China took it to the UNO. In contrast, India has maintained a deafening silence on the issue of Hong Kong's autonomy and Taiwan. If they do not respect the 'One India' policy why is India going out of its way to respect China's 'One China' policy? Even now the Indian government is trying to play down the seriousness of the incursion, does not share much in the public domain as to what exactly is going on at the LAC. Modi government must come out with a clearcut China policy. These flip flops will not do.

How India was Recruited and Groomed In the war against China, the US has chosen India to be the big pawn, as traditional US “allies” like Japan, South Korea, Philippines, Thailand, Malaysia have all signaled that they don’t want to be a part of WW3. To give credit to the US, they have been planning on recruiting India for a long time. Let’s expound on this more … First, one must understand the Faustian bargain that India made with the US. America opened up its job market for Indians, and India opened up its entire economy for the US! And the USA wins in both sides of the deal. Get the brightest workers from India; and in return get two things: (1) Access to 1.3 billion consumers, and (2) a geopolitical puppet state. Democracy and Free Market are propaganda slogans. Why hasn’t the US tried to spread democracy in Saudi Arabia? No, that would be very dangerous - what if a populist Saudi guy gets elected and kicks out the US military base and starts selling oil in Yuan? That would be the end of USA’s global hegemony. And “free market” was great until China started to win. Now the US likes protectionism and hates WTO, which the US created! When Walmart buys FlipKart - India’s successful e-commerce startup - that’s cheered on as free market. But do you think the US would have allowed FlipKart to buy Walmart? Of course, not. The Indian executives in America will never be able to go back to India and start competing corporations. The US has made sure that it has enough control over Indian banks, VC’s and other financial structures to guarantee that there won’t be any funding for Indian versions of Intel, Microsoft, Cisco, Google, Facebook, Amazon etc. Totally Different Success Stories for China and India Compare India to China, which competes with the US for the global market in all areas of technology, commerce, finance etc. There are 7 Indian companies in the Global Fortune 500 list; and there are 120 mainland Chinese companies on that list! India - 7; China - 120. China beats India in every metric - GDP-per-capita (5x), international patents (28x), foreign exchange reserves (6x), manufacturing output (10x), foreign trade (6x), median wealth of an adult (13x), poverty reduction, life expectancy, healthcare and the list goes on. Keep in mind that, in 1991, India and China were at the same level for all those metrics. What changed? Well, India and China both opened up to the world, but in different ways. China protected its sovereignty, while India blindly embraced “reforms.” Now, it’s likely that India will turn out like any other numerous developing nations - Brazil, Mexico etc. - which will always be poorer and obedient “allies.” To totally control a country, one must control 8 primary institutions or sectors: finance, business, media, technology, politicians, military, farming, and natural resources

China feels deeply threatened by India's construction of the Shyok -Daulat Beg Odie Road . Daulat Beg Oldie is very close to Karakoram Highway ( part of CPEC ) linking China with Gwadar in Pakistan. PM Modi has indicated India's intentions of liberating Indian territories of Gilgit - Baltistan ( POK ). Once , this is done it would mean an end of China's grand plans and its massive investments in Pakistan including in POK ( also Gilgit and Baltistan which are legally Indian territories )

The Chinese are playing by the tenets of Sun Tzu and now it is high time India should play by the rules and teachings of the Chanakya. Being defensive has only given us a reputation of a hibernating elephant that is unwilling to wake up despite being in grave danger. India needs to step up its game and up the ante. If you don't confront the bully, the bully will find novel ways to inflict more harm on you every single opportunity it gets.

We in addition to boosting the military build up along LAC we are very proactive in the diplomatic mission with our strategic new allies USA and Australia, and covertly with many other countries. There is definitely a quantity difference with china in military, but qualitatively we are better off be it the Russian armoury, US and Swedish Guns, and the Israeli avionics. We are a battle hardened Armed forces after 1962, we had 65, 71, 84, 99. The Chinese can blackmail Nepal, pak, srilanka, Malaysia, Burma.

@AR-jm8ce
@AR-jm8ce 4 года назад
Who said China will not go back ? They can't hold the territory long without drastic side-effects. Chinese have this concept of face saving culture. They don't publically like to be offended hence indian government is not publicizing the rhetoric. If china does any drama like it'll occupy forcibly, then an international coalition will be at it's shores and loss of Indian neutrality towards China. China has much to lose if India joins anti china alliance. China has very few great powers(maybe like only russia but then again they're not anti India )to completely support it. Bjp might go out of power or not, but India's foreign policy will not change. Once communist party goes out of power in China everything will change and entire threat will go away. China fears it's own population more than foreign countries keep that in mind first

The interviewer looked unsatisfied with the answers from Ranade, first he had to ask repeatedly that the action was sanctioned if not initiated by Xi jinping. Secondly on the Nepal issue he expected Ranade to say it's our diplomatic failure, but at the end, interviewer had to say personally he feels what army chief had said is correct etc. Final nail was hit on his perspective of Doklam issue, he wanted to convey that nothing has changed on the ground after India and China stepped back, but wanted to push his narrative that Doklam was not a success for India as claimed by somebody, on the contrary Chinese got away with lot of things (?) they occupied Doklam plateau which was in Bhutanese territory and built bigger camps there bla, bla. The final word on this matter was Ranade's who clarified that Chinese did not gain any further ground and also that they have not brought additional members, but fact is the Doklam set back had its effect on the CCP inner circles back in Beijing. *Print is aadat se majboor hai (false narrative). @john doe I don't think so. Problem with Chinese is that, they have built many military infrastructure and road connectivities in the occupied Aksai Chin over a period of time, but it is objecting to India's similar initiatives to safeguard its interest in AkSai Chin along the LAC. Looks like leadership of CCP, the Chinese Communist Party is in total disarray due to its internal/external problems like Wuhan originated CCP virus, South China sea occupation,Taiwan tussle, protests in Hong Kong over security and national anthem bill and in the midst of all this confronting India in Aksai Chin of Ladakh UT seems to me is ridiculous. @john doe I raised this issue because India has blamed Nepal for no reason. You never think any country in a way you think. Yes we are small, but survived many centuries. Unlike India has been ruled by many outsiders - Muslims, British and so many in the past. India is a new country formed in 1947. Nepal existed much before that. All of your states were separate countries before the independence. India is a strong country. But even strong country can also get into trouble if you have issues your neighbors. Nepal India has a cultural similarities and historic sharing. There are some border issues, if resolved bilaterally, should have no issues.
@AR-jm8ce
@AR-jm8ce 4 года назад
@@JJ1981ism the point is everyone except media propaganda knows why this issue happened. Oli had issues with madhesi concerns and corrupt politics of nepal r worse than up or Bihar with no substance. Oli behaved like how indian politicians behave with each other or central government. He made un diplomatic statements against India and his overtly pro China support was in full display. To save his political career he started a nationalist tirade against India. When India could solve border dispute with Bangladesh why do u think it'll not be solved with nepal? Since it's an open border agreement both countries neglected for long time. But oli and his bullshit statements like indian coronavirus is dangerous than Wuhan virus, him publically saying Hong Kong belongs to China ( not like India bothers but seems as if he is parroting Chinese agenda). This whole issue between Nepal and India will be solved soon and mostly India will this territory with further high economic concessions to Nepal. But one thing is for sure, India will definitely sabotage the entire communist parties n pro China parties in Nepal soon like what happened in Maldives clandestinely. Oli would surely be gone one way or other from pm post very soon.
