So what if the choreography is mixed in with some acrobatic moves? It’s a great production and it’s just something different. Bravo to them! It’s like watching a bit of Cirque du Soleil and quite stunning sometimes.
I've never seen a version like that. During the whole thing I was thinking, "Someone's going to die! Someone's going to die!" it was a truly unique dance.
Unique and beautiful. I don't mind at all stretching the boundaries of ballet to create something so stunningly awesome. Hope to find more videos of this amazing acrobatic ballet's interpretation of other ballet performances.
For me the hallmark of ballet is graciousness, esthetics and beauty. There are some modern "ballets" that have none of that or are even unwatchable, without grace or worse. This production has an exquisite graciousness, keeps also lovely Tchaikovski music. And yes this perfect body ballerina has gone beyond with her elasticity, incredible balance without losing the beauty of this pas deux, so it remains the great art of ballet. There is a longer 12 min.?version, guandong acrobatic ballet that shows better her, their art that received unanimous comments of admiration.
So beautiful and new. I watched this video a few years ago, then I couldn't find it again. I'm so glad I have again, This time I will bookmark it. Beautiful art, stretching the boundaries, creating new perfection,
Wow! While that was heavy on theacrobatics they slso showed with their lines and poses that they knew the balley also. Very well choreographed and performed
i realise its more of an acrobatic performance but they are wonderful dancers. Wish they performed in the uk more, I saw them in Peony Pavillion many years ago and they were amazing. A different production from what we are used to but so what. Incredible talent. I wish i could find more of thier productions on line
That really was an amazing performance, and credit to all the performers, but I take my hat off to the two main performers...to do what you both did was fantastic, and you had to have had a lot of trust to Stand on pointe like that on the male dancers head!! Cant be easy lifting and balancing the young lady like that either, so it was superb ! 💐💕👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
speechless mind blowing I don't know what I just watched but I'm confused is it suppose to be the ballet version of swan lake or acrobat version but I enjoyed it anyways she was amazing though and a little freaky in her last backwards leg lefts
Yes, you are right that this is not ballet. Most professional ballet dancers I've seen can barely do a few pirouettes without losing their balance and would definitely not be able to do this, so yes, you're right that this is definitely not ballet.
If you ever watch Chinese Opera you would get the idea why there so strong in doing ballet, seems with wushu training makes them strong and graceful, wushu demands perfection, a ballet Dancer from another country would have a hard time going thru the training these ballet dancers go thru.
Karen Noble - it's not both. It has some ballet moves, but it lacks emotion, expression which are an integral parts of ballet. Ballet is not just doing specific moves to music. To be "both", it needs to have artistry and emotion, not just do some ballet moves (not as well as top ballet dancers) and some, admittedly amazing, acrobatics.
The ballet snobs here who comment "this is not ballet" are just that, snobs. They try to make the point of what is truly ballet and this version of ballet/acrobatics. It's not truly acrobatics and it's not truly ballet it's a combination of 2 art forms.
Nothing to do with being snobbish. Ballet is expressive, it's acting, it tells a story. This is devoid of emotion. There are no feelings, no expression, just moves. Yes, it uses some ballet moves and music, and it's amazing what they can do, but it's acrobatics with some graceful moves. Zero expression and no acting. One doesn't need to be a snob to see that. Really, just call everyone who points this out a snob.
This is not classical Ballet. You see, they are more focused on the acrobatics than the technique of the Ballet. Swan Lake is supposed to be a Ballet, and not an aerobatic performance that has qualities of ballet. Also quite frankly, this ballet is setting off the wrong message to people who don't know Classical Ballet. They might think this is what all companies do, then they go to another show, and if the dancers aren't doing the same tricks then they might think: "Why aren't they doing stunts?" Yet again, Ballet isn't about the tricks.
+MarianHeart1214 it's indeed sometimes unfortunate that this is called chinese ballet, while it's so different from the classical ballet. still the naming of this is right. it is chinese ballet

+Blueberrymint The title is wrong, they win the "golden clown" at the 26th monte-carlo acrobatic competition, it'a a famous acrobatic perfomance in China
To state the obvious, this is a Chinese take on the Swan Lake ballet. The lead 'ballerina' exhibits grace and poise and remarkable control of her physical body. The male dancer has been chosen for his physical abilities. Both of them are excellent acrobats. The rest of the female dancers are just fluff. To compare this with classical ballet would not be fair. Whilst the piece has an entertainment value, it has no depth of soul and would be very suitable for America's Got Talent.
