There's something mystic about the chinese music, but on the other hand, it's past and traditions are full of mysteries, at least for western people. The women playing in this video are music magicians in my opinion. There os absolutely nothing more beautiful than this.
Beautiful dixie performance. Harmonious combination of sounds from dixie, guzheng with nice melody make good music to listen. It doesn't need language to understand the music. Excellent performance. Thanks.
Sehr schone musik, und finde Ich....wie was mann spricht mit viele live.........sehr romantik........Vielen Dank aus Schweiz Que linda musica para enamorarse de la noche a la mañana..........Very nice music,I love this Music.........Thank you so Much.....
i luv this music, its so relaxing, it takes back to ancient china, you can feel the water on your feet, the soil on your hands, and the soft grass below your body....as you lay there....on the hill, feeling at one with the universe.........i know.......deep
excellent display, she can outshine any world top flute player in an orchestra, she executed legato and thrill with one breath, no wonder women are long winded. bravo.
Chinese music echoes nature more than any other. It is, as a consequence, the most relaxing. This is why it is used as background to meditation. I know not everyone will see it that way, in particular those who's ears have been conditioned to music (?) intended to excite and send people into a head shaking frenzy - if you get what I mean. Whatever turns you on.
chill.... as in the saying, beauty is in the eyes of the beholder... tastes/preferences r subjective n vary from individual to individual. i would actually be surprised if more than 80% of the world's population enjoy Chinese flute music.
The flute and especially the bamboo flute is a mystical instrument. It is the breath, it is life. I would like to remind that the Mowlana dervishs of Rumi as well all Persian meditation sessions start with just a simple bamboo flute. I did not know the Chinese flute but it has entranced me. I am going to look for more
@eastindiaman I agree with what you said and had visioned ONE NESS CONCERT for Vancouver Olymic where people of all nations gather and sing each nations chants . people respecting and singing other peoples songs and chants is like ultimate tribute and connection with each other. very strong bonding hence ONENESS. I will be happy to arrange it again. Lets be ONE.
She must have lungs the size of feakin beach balls! I just got a chinese Bamboo flute the other day. I have nearly past out a few times from trying to hold notes. I think now I can truly appreciate just how talented this woman is from my experience (or lack of) with the instrument. Amazing and soul soothing! I strive to one day to play at least half as good as this! 5 STARS!
Played beautifully. This type of flute can be challenging to play with the right intonation; the vibrating membrane (visible as what looks like an onion skin-actually the inner skin of a stalk of bamboo- just between the embouchure hole and the first fingerhole) imparts a kazoo-like effect that is lovely when done correctly, but can get out of hand very easily if one is not careful. Thus, it is an act of true virtuosity to play one so beautifully and with such control as this.
Deeeeeeeeeep!!!! Thank u CHINA for the genuine traditional music and for Kung Fu( long live Wing CHun Kung Fu :) ) Keep your way, don't forget your tradition, beautiful China!
u see the beginning of music was nature and then insturements made of nature and sounds to make the nature's work:relaxing and make peace this is how our music should be!
music, as a fruit of civilization and cumulative effort and creativity of past generations, is common legacy to all humanity. There will come a day when we realize national flags and tribal bickering are in vain! Thanks to internet venues such as youtube and talented musicians such as this lady performer, no matter where we are, we can enjoy the feast of beautiful music!
@TheSaxophone1234 That's why we in the US Military music system, we call music the "International Language". I still have fond memories of a very large military band from the USSR came to our Armed Forces School of Music in the winter of 1989-1990 to perform. They had a clarinet section of at least 40. It was quite awesome.
Mysuggestion: Begin with one of Key C because it is the most common.Key E is easier to play but the pitch is a bit high. The flute which this lady (her name is Chen Yue) playing with is a Key D I guess.Key D is much more diffifult. Anyway, the longer the length and the bigger the diameter, the harder it is to play.Unfornately, most of the popular old Chinese songs are in Key D.Good luck!
The playing and blowing techniques for a Chinese flute (dizi) and a Western flute are very similar. There is a hole between the finger holes and the blowing hole that needs to be covered in order for the flute to work. This is done by gluing a thin piece of bamboo paper (dimo) over the hole and this gives the dizi its characteristic buzzing sound. The dizi she is playing is actually in B-flat. This song (Flying Partridge) is one of my favorites and it requires circular breathing.
It's kinda hard to explain.... When you are about to run out of air, empty the air from your lungs, inflate your cheeks and store the air in your mouth. Raise the back of your tongue to cover the back of your mouth. This will let take a quick BUT FULL breath of air through your nose while blowing the air stored in your puffed cheeks out. It takes ALOT of practice to get it just right and you may get light-headed.

most people don't associate China as a contrubutor to music. Without this Chinese "feel", you won't have Pink Floyd..enya..coldplay...etc. Most don't know China invented music theory. Perfected pitch from creating bells to standardized a harmonic frequency. The first to write down music. In Chinese, happiness means high frequency, calm means the balance of frequency. Emperors worshiped divine frequency=music.
