Chinese black striped fountain pen review

Possibly a Yiren? Looks like several of that brand. Price snobs regularly miss out on some decent everyday writers. 😁 I've gotten several, not a clue what brand at the time, for free plus shipping from Wish pre pandemic. Turned out I regularly use them. 😉 Not bad from a site that fights against honesty as to brands and is noted for selling rubbish and tat. What does the nib say? From what I have gathered, "Genius" is a Taiwanese brand commonly used in mainland Chinese pens. But some just marked "iridium point" can be decent as well.

Perhaps the pen is made by Hero. They made a lot of pens with no branding. Like the fact that it works well. It seems the capping could be a bit more snug.

Very like Baoer 051 ... only it has silver cap,base and nib.

Hi Rob. It's a pity this is unbranded. It makes searching for one a bit difficult. I wonder which company actually made it. Actually I rather like the looks of the pen with the exception of the nib. As you said it should be completely silver in colour and not two tone. Even a black stealth nib would look OK. Writing performance seems reasonable. There are definite hints of Pelikan in the barrel and the top of the cap. I might even look for one to keep on my desk at work.

I've got one of those! It took me a while to realise the Pelikan design cues. It was sold as a Hongdian 960, which I have no reason to doubt. Works very well. I swapped the nib (which was absolutely fine; I just don't like gold) for a Jinhao stub. Only issue I've had is that the cap is taking some of the black paint off the shoulder of the brass section. It could well be a Hero, a Yiren, a Luoshi or some other brand. I'm really happy with it whatever.

I was wondering when you were going to review this pen, when i saw it in your inked video recently, i asked myself, "Is that a pelikan? that's unlike Rob to buy a pen of that expense (no offense)" Now that you've reviewed it, & i find it's ~$3.50 or so, even though im trying to parse down my collection, this might make it in.
