Great video! Explained exactly what I needed to know. The instructions I received from my unit were completely worthless had I followed them I would've wire the unit up incorrectly. Your controller is exactly the controller I have which made this video great finished my install watched your video and it fired up first time got rid of that 30 year old propane furnace👍👍👍
Beezer Twelve Washingbeard, Glad to hear your heater is working great. always good to have a backup heat source. Thank you for watching. Please subscribe, give me a thumbs up on the video, and let others know about our channel. Check out our other videos too. Have a great week.
@Tony Bailes I've got two heaters, each has a completely different display. The one like you see in the thumbnail with the heater graphic always shows info even if it's off. The backlight will dim until you press a button then it goes bright, but it's still visible at all times. The other type is just numerical digits and goes dark after it shuts down.
@Tony Bailes next to nothing in terms of battery usage to power only the display head unit. If you're using the heater in your shop, it's advised to power it off a car battery and use a battery maintainer/trickle charger.
I'm giving you 6 stars instead of 5 for this better than excellent video. Thank you so much for taking the time to put this together. Explorer 867 = Hero of the Day!!!!!
Thanks - best explanation I've found yet, clearest, and didn't just rush through it. I really appreciate it. My manual is poorly written and in such tiny print that I can hardly make it out despite reading glasses AND magnifying glass.
Thank you for watching my video on the diesel heater controller, glad it helped you out. Please watch our other videos and let others know about our channel. Subscribe, give me a thumbs up and have a great day
Cheers buddy I’ve had diesel heater for over four year and in the beginning the Chinese videos where terrible to understand you a star now I know exactly how to use it and get more heat out of it all the best fi Scotland
Blade Runner, welcome to the channel. Glad the video helped you out and great to hear from Scotland. Please give me a thumbs up on the video, subscribe if you haven't, let others know about our channel, check out our other videos too. Have a great week.
Thank you. I have looked at a number of these videos on this subject and this is the clearest. I make the assumption that once primed, the system is then simply on/ off.
Once primed your ready to run heater provided you installed heater properly. Please subscribe, give me a thumbs up, check out my other videos and let others know about our channel. Have a great day.
Bob and Debbie, thank you for watching our Diesel Heater videos. We're looking forward to spring here in Oregon but in the meantime we will be toasty warm in the camper canopy. Have a great day you two.
Until the solder connection on the wire pulls loose from the circuit board in that LCD Controller! Then you cannot get the heater unit to start up! I wish someone would tell if it's possible to jump a couple of the wires that run to these controllers to BYPASS the controller just to get the heater up & running if you are in a (situation) where you accidentally pulled the NOT STRESS RELIEF wires out of the controller! PS: I commented elsewhere a recommendation that when you first get your heater you need to pump some hot glue or RTV Gasket sealer up into the little hole where the wires enter the plastic LCD controller box to help stress relief the wire from being pulled out.
Dude, I'm standing here in 0 degrees trying to get the Chinese diesel heater to work using the pigeon English manual...resorted to YT and man, you saved the day, I now know how the controller works as they'd printed the button stickers wrong. Thanks and great vudeo

Thank you so much my friend. This controller is not easy to understand. The mechanic just installed it and told me I would figure out. But no way I could understand some of the functions without watching your video. I appreciate you. 😊

This is the best, clear and easy way to learn and manage my heater with easy and pleasure. Your explanation is by far the best I have found. From Spain, thanks a lot !!! Carlos.
Desiree, make sure you give the heater a look over making sure whoever did the install did so in a safe manner. One more safety, make sure your van has a carbon monoxide detector installed per manufacturer spec's. Enjoy you van 🤠

I did subscribe , thumbed up and hit the notification bell sir. If i may ask, my heater dose not go all the way to the red bar, it stops at the yellow which is not alot of heat. Do you know why that is? Thanks again
@@hashimosman6519 Check you fuel delivery lines to make sure there's no air in them. Make sure your inline fuel filter is clean and that your running good clean diesel. Make sure your running the heater with a fully charged battery.

I have just purchased a camper with one of these fitted. The guy i bought it from had lost the remote and had no idea how to use the heater without it....As soon as i finish my night shift i will go home and try these instructions..fingers x. Thanks so much for this video. Hopefully the heater will work....

This is amazing! I like that you can actually set a timer, which could be really handy. I also like that the controller is so easy to read. Really impressed with this.
Yes! This is a nice controller, easy to operate and very easy to program. For Helen and I we probably wont use the timer function but the setup for it is the same as setting up the clock function. Take care.
@@explorer867 I have a different controller on my heater. Do you have a source for this controller? I have trouble programming mine. It's a 19 universal digital panel, is what's on instructions paper. This one looks much better.

Absolutely great tutorial for these heaters. Thank you very much. Ohh yes, a 5kw will heat my 34ft Skoolie toasty in 1.0 hrs on a 32'F day. When its about 70'inside, I turn to low and it holds 70+'F no problem.
I am always happy to hear my video helps people. I have one of the 5kw diesel heaters in my camper canopy on the old 96er my 1996 Ford 4x4 pickup and one in my converted cargo trailer. Both heaters have worked flawlessly. You can check out the video I just uploaded on my converted cargo trailer and the videos detailing the install in my pickup canopy on RU-vid. I've just bought one of these 5 Kv diesel heaters as my home gas fired heater stopped working due to an excess of rain water around the burner unit causing an electrical short and a shut down. The instruction book was not a lot of use as it didn't clearly show settings through the path to fire up and shut down etc By pure luck I did get it to initially run by blindly experimenting with the control buttons and it did perform well. This video has been the answer to using the heater and now I have to find a way/place to install it so the exhaust can be directed outside......the exhaust pipe DOES get really hot. It's going to be a temporary emergency fix but at the same time I'll probably be using it mainly in my garage workshop in Winter......temperatures in South OZ get down to 10 deg C and that's too cold to work for any length of time without some heating. For the garage I'll just mount it against the wall on a shelf and direct the exhaust out of the window, probably eventually through a hole drilled in the brickwork........it will be much cheaper to run than the industrial 20KW electric heater I use occasionally. Edit........I'm so impressed with the simplicity of using this heater I'll invest in a second one just for the garage as this one I going to stay in the house for times when the gas heater is not working.
Ian, Glad the video helped you. Make sure you have a working CO detector in your work/living space. Looks like your much warmer Down Under than we are here in Central Oregon, 8 degrees Fahrenheit this morning. My diesel heaters have been working well for me for 3 years now, one in my pickup topper and one in my converted cargo trailer camper or Caravan. Good to hear from you mate. Have a great day. Ok, thanks,, from deep cold north florida temps. The info you gave was put in a way i could comprehend. I learned from you about the temp degree setting differences, what to look for, the tiny degree indicator indicating thermostat temp verses the larger degree marker indicating target temperature . This Helped me. Thanks again. Happy travels. 😊😊😎😎

Thanks So Much , for the Great info!... A word to the wize, keep on hand an extra glow plug. Preferably an Espar, or Wabsto plug, for replacement. I live in my van in Alaska. The chinese plug is JUNK!!!😖🥶
Thanks for the heads up!! I have one of these units in my sprinter van. Is there anyway you could drop a link of the glow plug you are speaking of that will fit in the Chinese diesel heater as well as the special 12mm socket with the slit for the wire? Thank you! You seem to have more experience replacing these things. I appreciate it.
Great timing finding this video. Finished installing my heater in my van conversion. A bit early for the cold weather but its in and working. Thanks for the talk through of the control panel. 🖖

I've been using this 5000 for the better part of a year with no problems. We travel off pavement alot of the time, so lots of dust. To remedy this dust issue causing problems I installed a combustion air intake filter. Enjoy your day
Thank you very well explained. Even though my controller is different the modes are alot alike and the way to tell which is which on the Temps was very helpful. Knowledge gained thank you.

Thank you so much. I have had a desil heater and it took me so long to assemble it and then the on off simple switch didn't work and I wanted the one that showed me what was going on with it. Anyway no instructions came with the control pod, and I have been randomly pushing buttons looking for the feringeight button and now I know there is only Celsius. So I have to create a exchange sheet laminate it and tape it to the machine. I also didn't know what the (of) ment. I thought it meant shut off. I have learned so much, need to rewatch several times to memorize and take notes. Had to guerilla tape over the flimsy heater output hose as this is for a tent. And I definitely need a longer more flexible exhaust hose. Will be looking to see if they sell those any longer. I built the heater into a plastic tool box with the intake and exhaust hose coming out of the bottom of the box. I think they should have designed those two further apart. I also had to create a different size square gas tank, using tire air valve after removing the small screw in needle. So far it works good. Glad line is a bit stuff in the cold. I don't trust the exhaust which is under the machine to be inside the tent even if the exhaust was vented outside. So entire thing except heater hose connected to a dryer hose, all insulated up with blk gurrella duct tape will be all that enters inside the tent instead of a wood stove. I like my tent stove but one cannot sleep and feed a stove during winter camping. Anyway, I am so happy I found your instruction for the control. It was a big mystery to me. Heater kept shutting off. Does the control pod have a thermostat where if it is colder it pumps faster and if it gets to warm it will slow down? Need more instruction about the megahurtz.
Thank you for watching the video and watching my other videos also. The controller if set on Celsius will automatically run the diesel heater up and down to keep heat in a given space at one temperature. That said is dependent on the size of the room, the insulation in roof and walls, and size of heater. Always be safe, consult and follow what your owner's manual says to do. Please give the video a Thumbs up, Subscribe, Ring the Bell and let others know about our channel on your social media. Have a good week.

Hi, Thank you for all your info and work that goes into making these video's. I was getting a low voltage warning E-01 and the heater would then shut down. It wasn't the batteries for they were at 13.2v . Come to find out it was the fuse and after changing it the unit worked just fine.

Alpine mode- has anyone found it ? There is a mountain on the lcd.... it uses less fuel to maintain proper ratios at high altitude but I don’t know how to get into the mode to try it

I spent the better part of three hours today trying to figure out the controller. I'm installing it into a trailer while it was in my 60'ish degree shed. I figured out how to prime it, but could'nt get it to turn on. Is the reason it wouldn't turn on because the ambient temp was too high and the setting was set at "auto" and not "manual? Also, the battery light flashed at times with a new and charged 12v battery. You're video is very helpful! Thank you
Hi billd.8925, Thank you for checking out my video. Please Like, Subscribe, Ring the Bell and let others know about our channel on your social media. It is possible that the controller if set to Celsius and set to a temperature lower than the ambiant temperature may keep the diesel heater from running at a faster rate. The heater should start up if the battery isn't discharged. Check this with a multimeter, it should read 12.7 volts or little above for a fully charged battery. When correctly wired to the power source your electronic controller will show you a battery voltage reading. Watch my video again as I point out this feature. Make sure you have followed the instructions given you when you purchased the heater to do your installation. You alone are responsible for your safe installation practices.
I was hoping the thermostat would have shut it down once up to temperature wishful thinking I guess. Great video thanks just run mine up for the first time in Sunny Wales 👍

@@projectzip That's a good point projectzip. If the diesel heater is constantly cycling It will consume the battery. I will however look into the afterburner controller. Where did you find it? Please like, subscribe, and let others know about my channel.
So it will not shut off after it reaches set target temperature? If that is the case, in a small space like a van, it will get warmer and warmer, won't it? Not ideal if you like to use the heater to keep the van warm during sleep time
These heaters don't actually shut off. If set on Hz setting will run at that setting, if set to the Celsius it will run at that target setting. Please give a thumbs up and subscribe to the channel then let others know about my channel. Have a great week.
