I'm not Chinese, but I love the Chinese New Year celebrations. I was lucky to grow up in a part of town with a huge Chinese population. My mom took me to see the lion dances each year. The smokey firecrackers, the vibrant reds and golds as far as I could see, the smell of all the shops making their delicious food, the crowds of people full of joyous energy, and the sound of the drums and cymbals which you could feel throughout your entire body. There are many fun New Year celebrations, but nothing quite matches the excitement and rejuvenating energy of the lion dances. It's the type of celebration that wakes up the spirit completely.

When I was 3-7 I was literally SOO scared because of the loud banging and how the Lion looked and what it was doing, so whenever there was a lion dance, I would always want my feet off the ground, so I forced my mum or dad to pick me up, carry me, or put me on the trolley seat because that’s what made me feel safe xD

This stuff is still fun to watch.

Whats up with the dislikes? I didn't knew about lion dances but I can certainly say this is a beautiful display of art, skill and culture. I love the energy and these dancers performance is amazing.

I missed the lion dance. Before pandemic, I really like watching this kind of performance in different malls in the Philippines every Chinese New Year. But now, there's no lion dance due to Covid.

I used to be scared, but now I'm like the costume is so adorable.

And somehow a REAL lion is less terrifying.

Lastime when I was young when there is a Lion dance and the lion gets near me I would SCREAM its looks so real!! And it was very LOUD!!

When I was like so young I always hug my mom cuz of the loud banging noises and the lions 😂😂 but now I think they are very cute UwU we celebrate Chinese new year in our country and lion dancers would come to our school to perform.

In my city Mexicali, in north of Mexico we have a huge influence of chinese traditions because a lot chinese inmigrants came here in the early 20th century. That Lion dance is actually an adopted tradition in this city, which is so nice,

every single time i heard it I'd first jump out of my skin then beg my parents to go see it. i love the lion dance. can you imagine e the training both the people in the lion and the people handling the drums have to go through for a performance that can happen on the street in the middle of a random city?

when i was little i loved this stuff but also scared because of the firecrackers. yesterday I went to a shopping center to eat lunch then I heard drums I recognised and followed the noise and then I saw lions dancing it was so loud and amazing

😍😍 I love gongs. As a Mizo from North East India. In the olden days, we cannot celebrate a festival without gongs. Gongs are used in festivals, rituals, etc. The sound of the Gongs makes our hearts burst out like a fire.

Here in my city of Cebu in Philippines, one famous supermall chain practices Lion Dance every Chinese New year. Multiple lions dance within the entire mall to visit and bless every shop.

im here cause i remember these lions came to our elementary school every year and we were super scares cause we were like 5-8 years old and the music was loud and scary and there was an aisle where the dragon to come through and every year, no one was willing to sit at the end row, the front of the gym or the back since the dragon was gonna be there. Some cried LMAOOOO

My elementary school in Louisiana used to have these ceremonies and I would be so infatuated with the movements of the dragons. Absolutely love it, always will!!! 🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰

In my school, we celebrate Chinese New Year and yes we have the Lion dance and Dragon dance. Since I'm in grade 4 our last celebration in school was 2020 and we were wearing costumes as mermaids. So our last celebration was grade 3. We all screamed and ran away but me I was like... *JESUS WHY*
