Oliver and Lucas celebrate China's most important festival, Chinese New Year!
Chinese New Year, also known as Lunar New Year or Spring Festival, is annual 15-day festival in China that marks the beginning of the lunar new year in the Chinese calendar.
The Chinese calendar is based on the phases of the moon and so the Lunar New Year is celebrated on the first new moon of the year.
Celebrated by Chinese communities around the world, Chinese New Year is a time when families come together to wish each other good luck, happiness, and prosperity for the coming year.
It is custom to bring in the New Year with a traditional Chinese Lion dance. It is believed that a Lion dance will attract prosperity and good fortune.
The Chinese Lion Dance is a traditional dance in Chinese culture that is performed as part of the New Year celebrations.
Lions and dragons are a symbol of luck in Chinese culture. So, by performing a lion or dragon dance, it is believed that it will scare away evil spirits and bring good fortune and happiness to those who watch it.
In celebration of Chinese new year it is customary that a Lion or a dragon dance is performed It creates a festive atmosphere and is said to bring good luck and happiness for the New Year.
