I'm chinese born Indonesian, in my family I still give small hugs and light kisses in cheeks, but still, to someone new we rarely give them hug, simply shake hands. On the other hand, I can still give hugs to my fellow US friends w/o feeling awkward, but feeling really awkward to my asian friends.
在古代的中国 肢体接触是禁忌 means 不敬 you got to avoid anything that might be aggressive 晚辈向父母表达爱可以磕头🤣 Btw 爱 Love isn’t a keyword in the traditional Chinese culture. It actually means “very strong love feelings”. Usually ppl talk about 情 Affection.
Sid’s family can’t really represent all Chinese people, I hug my family all the time and some of my frds. Its just all depends. Probably not as often as Americans do but yeah we sure do :)
