Hermes is reported to have generated at least $2.7 million USD (£2.1 million) on the reopening day of its store in the Taikoo Hui mall of Guangzhou. The total spent by Chinese shoppers at the Hermes boutique is believed to be the greatest one-day tally ever for a single boutique in China. Several sources believe luxury goods shoppers are ‘revenge buying’ due to restrictions in previous months that stopped people from shopping in China.
