wow i just discovered this channel OMG i cant stop watching your videos! as an abc, i have also been using your videos to practice my mandarin. have you guys considered adding pinyin to the subtitles? keep up the good work!
I subbed to this channel because I really like the content and I'm learning Chinese myself. I'm a beginner (like, extreme beginner. I know maybe 40-50 characters tops) I've really been focusing on the tones a lot and I come here to see if I can make out any words that I've already learned. Maybe just because I'm not used to it yet, but it seems as if the fluent and native speakers don't ever put as much "stress" (I don't really have a better word) on the tones as the learning materials teach. It's almost as if they glide through the tones, sometimes to the point where it doesn't even sound like they're applying any tones to the words. For the experienced speaker..are they 100% applying tones to every word that has one? Is this something I'll pick up over time? Are my suspicions correct about them kind of "gliding" through the tones because they're speaking so fast (fast relative to me that is), or are the tones always present and it just sounds like they're gliding through the tones to my ears? Thanks for any input!
Yea honestly fluent Chinese speakers dont go so hard on the tone. Maybe in some parts of Northern China they do but not so much in the South and even less in Taiwan. Thats why i used to be super confused as a kid when white kids made fun of chinese by saying random sounds with heavy af tones since most dont actually sound like that. However its better to teach the pronunciations with more 'stress' on the tones so that its more clear on distinguishing between them
hey lit. Can you please make a video about the reaction to the Chinese new tv show, called the rap of china. It's a really great show, and the topic of hip hop is a "brand new" thing for chinese people.
Videos like these are what make me realize how truly Westernized I am LOL I apologize to my Asian ancestors... I swear I'm better with canto songs... I've never heard of any of these songs and maybe 50% of the artists. I can't even properly empathize with Luke hahaha I'm worse than him.
AHAHH I knew the JJLin song LMAO i sing it all the time. I shouldn't be proud because it's a pretty popular song and xiao xing yun and those bygone years are from well-known movies hahah WASTED also I didn't see this video in my sub box :( or i just wasn't looking hard enough xD
