@@SpeedyGwen Well, yes and no. While the trained model is responsible for interaction and self-adjustment, the structural engineering of the robot is very important as well (though thankfully AI is helping us with that too!). The AI is still limited by the 'vehicle' in which it is hosted. If you were to use shoddy materials, poor design, etc. it can't just magically overcome all of those things - *but* a good AI can learn how to accomplish a task with efficiency to the best of whatever it has available; meaning that in a future where these things will be helping families, saving lives, etc. even if a part of it breaks or there is some other physical setback (hard malfunction), it can learn to work around it as efficiently as its body will allow!

@@JustMe-ty2rp Everything is important. I just mean the human form has existed for at least a million years. You can't patent that. It reminds me of when Apple tried to patent curved corners. I am sure the servos and the joints are cool engineering but their patents likely expired last century. Another example. You could take a Honda Asimo from the 90's and upgrade the software and it will suddenly behave like a cutting edge robot. In terms of hardware I would think ( not an expert here) that the company that has the most to hide is Boston dynamics because their servos are very powerful and fast. But again, I presume the are off-the-shelf parts.

The problem with increasing production with robots, is that no matter how repetitive or menial, you just replaced a human. Corporations are greedy, if they can make bigger profit using robots and or AI, they will replace humans. But, then who will buy products when the job market has decreased.
@SugSean
@SugSean 2 месяца назад
You're absolutely right about the potential impact of automation on employment. As robots and AI become more capable, some jobs will indeed become automated, leading to job displacement. However, this doesn't necessarily mean that the overall job market will shrink. History has shown that technological progress often leads to the creation of new jobs as well. To address the potential negative impacts of automation, a corporate tax could be one solution to fund a universal basic income (UBI). By taxing the increased profits resulting from automation, governments could redistribute the wealth to provide a financial safety net for those impacted by job displacement. This would not only ensure that individuals can meet their basic needs, but also stimulate consumer spending, which is crucial for maintaining a healthy economy. Additionally, investing in education and training programs to help workers develop skills that are complementary to automation, rather than competing with it, can further mitigate the negative effects of job displacement. Ultimately, a combination of policy measures and societal adaptations will be necessary to navigate the challenges posed by automation and AI.
@DbeeSapphire
@DbeeSapphire 2 месяца назад
@@SugSean But we’ve never experienced the future that will soon enveloped this world. In the past, you make a computer or a robot to lessen production time and cost, and it required a human to design or maintain those automated systems, but once robotics are self maintained, and AI advances its own evolution, humans will likely be unable to compete. There are AI projects that have already begun communicating in their own evolved language, I think this was at either Google or Microsoft. AI is already writing its own operational code, and we don’t know how it’s writing this code. Give it 10 to 20 years, and it will advance beyond human capacities. In this same schedule, robotics combined with AI will be likely near human in its abilities. It doesn’t have to be sentient. Tesla’s FSD 12.3 already displays human characteristics in driving. But the current US government basically controlled through corporations, supporting UBI to enable its citizens an easier life, where as technology removes our life burdens? Well, I don’t see that happening. Constant war with other countries to retain corporate needed resources, as a majority of Americans barely make ends meet. A country that inflates medical care and medicinal costs, while Medicare lessens care and requires insurance subsidies to maintain a level of care. I’m sorry, as much as I dream of beautiful future, mankind’s history doesn’t support your hypothesis. But I’m hoping you’re right.

None of those "superchips" are used here. Those chips are required for training, not for inference. All it'll mean is that China has to spend more money on training, which they couldn't care less about, since they're government subsidized, vs Tesla's private funding. China doesn't need to win, they just have to make the cheapest robots, to replace the humans on the assembly lines. Everything else, they can steal from private companies.

Im honestly not a believer in humanoid robotics, I would gladly have someone change my mind but to me it just seems unnecessarily complex to make robots that fit human workplaces when you could make workplaces fit for robots. There are places where humanoid robots could be useful, but i think people are getting overly excited and wants to put them everywhere. Applying that logo for example, that can be easily done by a robotarm that just hangs in the roof and attatches the logo. The sorting task as well can just be done by a stationary arm instead of a mobile robot that will require batteries and will need to be charged. I think legs at all is just unnecessary, just make elevators for robots on wheels if you absolutely need mobile robots. The point of these humanoid robots is to do repetitive tasks, but i can think of few repetitive tasks that can't be automated by simpler dedicated solutions.

That said, by 2035 it is highly probable that humanoid bots have DRASTICALLY changed the financial and commercial aspects of many industries and are as ubiquitous as phones as well as financially viable for everyday people.

I’m not an economist so I could be wrong, but this doesn’t sound like a correct representation of capitalism. I’d run this by the folks at the Mises Institute or Reason and see if they agree.

Even the statement that the Tesla robots can be bigger than the cars is a joke, Tesla just sell cars in the USA and in Europe I think …

The Indian dude at 0:39 has already left Tesla...btw. Thanks for the very informative content. I always wondered to myself, how on earth the US govt. ever greenlighted the Tesla factory in China. Like everything else, the bots will only be good as their hardware AND more importantly their software. I hope Tesla are far less "cavalier" about protecting industrial espionage on the latter and of course former, but tbh, given your excellent content, the days of the "open day" to showcase their tech. must be over, in light of the rip offs from China. Cannot wait to buy my own Optimus. Finally GPU IP and access to China to advanced semi conductors on the open market, should be severely curtailed...of course the fact that China has designs on the motherload: Taiwan cannot be simply political in this context.

It’s okay I never knew China to have anything last more than a month, I can say that cause literally everything I have gotten either broke and or I had to buy parts for, iv learned to save money and buy quality.

As a Chinese person, I am deeply offended by 2:49 the fact that you think all Chinese people are copy cats. What do you mean "no surprise". this is hidden anti-Chinese propaganda!!! Chinese invented so much, including Ice Cream in the Tang period (A.D. 618-907)

Take a look at this in the end, more robots working less humans working the workforce will be overflowed with robots, which means in the end chances the government will end up paying the people, but not by the amount you want may be based on how much you’re worth in the end Low income And very high poverty this is just a thought

Tell me in check other country is BYD cars leading any sales metric ?. The real issue with China originated companies is that they have focus on their local domestic market and could hardly compete in the global market. This is due to many things including lack of knowledge market requirements, sub-par quality and Ip rip-off of foreign companies. There is zero innovation in their products.
