I recently ordered a flugel from this brand. It’s under a lot of different names, but they are all the same manufacturer. Mine was called a “Weibster”, and it actually plays incredibly well. It was I believe around 800 and it suits my needs perfectly. I also have a rotary cornet that was extremely cheap from the same brand, which isn’t that great but it’s more of a novelty item. If you need a budget horn, they work great, sound good, aren’t a hassle, and will last you quite a while. You can also ask for custom finishes for no extra cost if the price is high enough I think, or at least that’s what I got. Cool bonus imo.

The Weibster flugelhorns are quite good.

Excellent and honest review! Cool looking vs true workmanship. These instruments look fantastic but... quality control is the biggest issue I've found with the instruments when testing them brand new. Looking at the valves when you pulled out the 1st valve, quality of the metal is the second. Over time, they just seem to wear out faster than most other manufacturers. Off to watch the play test.

The Chinese instruments (generally) are decent. Remember Jupiter? They are made in Taiwan and those are usually good horns. The Chinese instruments have come a long ways in the last 20 years. Also, some Bach horns are made in China! I know, I was a tester! The instruments to stay away from are now made in India. They are totally junk. Best used as wall decorations. But who knows, maybe the Indians will improve their quality in the next 20 years. I played a Chinese made piccolo trumpet at Juilliard and it played very well. At the time, because of finances, it was my only option.

Back in the good old bad old days, China had this brand "Lark" and they were heavy, clunky, and totally soul sucking. I bought one of their Baritones cheap and found this out immediately, but I did already know what I was in for.

Yep the bell bow curve is def Monette style This horn looks like if Carol brass made a Monette horn lol! Looks super cool & if you had a fine repair man clean it up some, it would be a killer horn!

My Monette p2 raja has the valve buttons that are ever so slightly off! I’m sure within spec tolerances but still very meh when I sight it. It plays amazing though, no doubt

The test that counts is sound - would you bet serious money you could pick this out of a lineup of expensive horns?

It sounded like a trumpet without a doubt. The difference is the feedback you get when you're playing it. The partials locked in very differently for me. I couldn't bend notes or adjust intonation as easily as say a Bach, Shires, or Yamaha horn. So sure, the sound will suffice, but what there's not enough benefits to the player to justify it being 1000 US dollars.

Yeah these Chinese horns are overpriced with the ebay ones being lemons. Anyone that asks me where they can get a killer horn for cheap I direct them to Thomann brass. You can get a professional model Carol Brass for like $650 shipped and it plays circles around the horn in this video.
