Ale Galán and Fede Chingotto continue their seemingly unstoppable form as they fight their way to the Sevilla Premier Padel P2 trophy, overcoming the number 1s, Agustín Tapia and Arturo Coello, once again, as well as an impressive Franco Stupaczuk and Martín Di Nenno in the final; as local favourites Paquito Navarro and Juan Lebrón show signs of improvement but fail to make it past the semifinals.

i think you are both completely wrong on the freeze-thing. you are just judging by stats. i think tapia has this 39% stats because chingotto gets played and galan gets freezed by coello and tapia and chingo likes to play cross court very much. so i think its more a result of the freeze of galan. if chingotto gets the most balls, then its clear that coello has more percentage because chingo will play cross 4 out of 5 times. thats what you see at the statistics. also the statistics come from the fact that chingo in most cases isnt able to end the point or playing a winner (exception: net clashes with all 4 players at net). that means the exchanges with galan end sooner because he will make a mistake or a winner etc....also he will have a more balanced percentage to where he plays the balls...but if chingo gets as much balls as galan...the opponent right side player (coello) will have much more percentage because chingo plays cross so much and his exchanges just end if the opponent misses (most of the time). so i think its more the case that coello and tapia have found a way, ironically, to beat themselves. but its understandable. chingo is one of the best defense players (top3), one of the best at net (top3) ....BUT i think hes the weakest offensive player from all the top 30 players or something. he gets every ball but for them to score the ball needs to get to galan somehow (most of the time) or the ball really has to be super high in front of the net and easy. chingos weakness ...real weakness....is offensive. and thats what coello and tapia know. so it makes complete sense to play everything on him if possible because he cannot end the point in 99% of the cases if a lob comes to short etc. if they do one lob mistake on the side of galan - point over. thats why they play on chingo so much (almost everyone did). in theory thats the way to go but they underestimate still how good chingo is defensively and that he will wear them down until they have to play a bad ball or a ball to galan who will then put pressure on them or end the point. chingo is the classical right side player. the prototype. the most extreme version of a right side player. like a player who would smash every ball from the left side ...even a chiquita :D:D:D edit.: also i think theres a lot of room to get better for chingo. imagine if he learns to have a smash like all the other top10 or top 20 players and if he could play winners. he could get absolutely crazy. so i dont think hes at his ceiling.

Interesting points for sure but I still think there is an element of Galan and Chingotto targetting Coello. For example, Tapia played 64% of the balls to Galan and 36% to Chingo, Coello for example was much more even 49% to Galan and 51% to Chingo (despite the fact Chingo plays a lot more cross court to Coello as you mentioned). On the other hand Galan played 56% to Coello and 44% to Tapia, this is rare as normally cross court is the more natural place to play the ball. As you mention, when defending the way to get Chingo/Galan is to go to Chingotto because offensively he is the weaker link but similarly, it seems like Chingo/Galan are going after Coello and it is working. On Chingo improving offensively, very true and we've seen this evolution in a similar player like Di Nenno. In Sevilla he was the right sided player with the highest % of winners (incl lefties!), if Chingo gets to that offensive level not sure who can stop them ! 😅
