It’s insane to me that it was the older brother from the show Smart Guy I had to look him up because I didn’t recognize him by his real name He did have his own R&B group on the show but I never knew he didn’t in music in real life💯
He’s saying (Give me a call if you wanna come roll with me) but tell me it doesn’t sound like he’s saying (Thank God if you wanna come roll with me) I always thought that’s how it went💯🤔
Jason weaver on the chorus was just the right touch, he effortlessly killed it, and not only can he sing but he is super humble and kind with a heart of gold ♥️😫
@@alanagroves2364 no that’s not the reason when you got a bunch of ignorant drill rappers pushing black genocide amongst each other. He just obviously was raised with dignity and respect, and is a breath of fresh air.
Seriously, sometimes I just put this music on and close my eyes and I swear I’m back there again...I can remember it all so vividly like it was yesterday 😭 felt like there wasn’t a care in the world, definitely nothing close to what we’re dealing with daily now
Man Jason Weaver is such a beast he has done so much music and acting he deserves so much more credit reminds me of a Jamie Foxx typa dude Underrated beast!!
I’m 32 now and listening 👂🏽 to this bomb make me some goosebumps. Miss that era. Now everything is going down since covid 19. Salute from Cameroon 🇨🇲 in central Africa #Francis#Ngannou
I think that too when I watch tv and they play reruns after reruns of artists, tv presenters, even journalists when they were young and now they're dead, but you can see them pretty much at any age on tv and it gets kinda creepy at some point... [Edit] not tryna bring down the mood or anything 😅
Tbh I feel bad for them as well to they wasn't even born around when the 2000s was lit and fun before technology completely took over in the 2010s to now.
@@abrahampalmer8761 they missed some fun and good times. it just seemed like a simpler time back then before social media and technology. we made the best of what we had at the time.
@@sandraruiz3834I am here being nostalgic after listening to an olderJason Weaver interview on the Strong Black Lead podcast. If you like podcast, you should give it a listen. He gave a lot of back story about his projects including how he ended up on this song. The label didn't want him to do it because he is an actor.
Maaaan, takes me back to the early 2000's. I was a 16 year old baby-faced kid without a care in the world except playing basketball, video games, and trying to get girls numbers, lol. Now im 31, married, and have a kid of my own....crazy how time flies, sort of scary honestly.
I know I was just thinking the same. 10 years ago i was 15 years old no worries in the world. Now im 25 it's scary how time passes you if your ready or not.
Remember how old heads talked bout the 70s? 80s? That's us now. The world was bigger. From 2009 and on the world changed. At least we were lucky enough to have grown up before then. Those eras will never be back.
I was 9 years old when this came out. Idk if it's just cuz I was young or what but things just felt so don't different back then. Music will never be this good again. Maybe it's the nostalgia idk.
Prince Fly what are you talking about? I came here bc I remember my aunt bumping this in her car when I was little. If you don't get yo irrelevant ass out my comments and enjoy the song smh...
You better sang, Jasonnnnnnn! I love this song. So nostalgic! 2003! I was in my sophomore year of college when this came out. Every time I hear this, it takes me right back to age 20. Early 2000s...what a time to be alive. 🎉❤
Always been a hit! Always loved this song. 2023!! Songs like this stay in heavy rotation! Thank you Chingy. Thank you Jason Weaver. Jason needs some Grammys! Legendary.
Brought here from Jason Weaver's Strong Black Legends Interview with Tracy Clayton where he details how Capital Record execs didn't want him on the song, but Ludacris and his partner Poon fought for him and they still try to leave him off the 'feature credit' till this day lol...crazy. They lied to Chingy and said Jason was too busy to tour or didn't want to be in the performances for years...absolutely dirty and crazy...Salute to Jason for always working
I just came from that interview right now too. Somethan he left out and rarely talks about. He did a feat hook in 2000 with Sole.."It wasn't me" song. He was feat on the album version but not the radio version in which Ginuwine was singing the hook. The song was actually a decent hit record. But Just like in the Chingy situation, he was replaced with a more popular rnb artist. It seems in the Sole situation he never fought for it. I'm curious on why not!
literally havent even finished the interview, had to come check in i realy love this song so to hear that story is like whoa and they hoed JWeave in the video he coulda got more screen time
MrTaser99 I feel like you can mash Pullin Me Back and this song together and they'd still sound beautiful!! Everytime I try to leave something keeps pullin me back me back Im only one call awayy!!
Yall gotta understand Jason Weaver having the earpiece w the mic was legendary at the time cuz it was a big thing to even have a phone with a camera lol
Damn, this takes me back to when me and my first girlfriend use to have 3-way phone convos with our friends on our house phones, before everybody had their own cellphone lol
Those were the days.....my lil girl is only 9 and has her a cell phone. I'm like damn, who be calling u. friends and u dad and grandma and grandpa is what she always say.what ever the case is.. This is my thang back then.
Hahaha mskiara101 babe, I know exactly what ur saying... that was the funnest thing ever... idk 'bout ya'll but, I had to hide lol ...because we would have late conversations and my parents slept next door.
Man this is probably one of my favourite early 00's music videos, everything in this video captures that early 00's essence. The weather, cars, technology at the time which wasn't too overpowering, city sights/backdrops and even the damn leaves are like a time capsule for me to some degree despite being from UK, US culture was a VIBE back then for me. Loved growing up in the 00s and definitely miss these type of songs, none of that thot IG model BS. This video is a perfect example of the kind of romance/love imagery early 00s were pushing man, just that real masculine and feminine with a twist of hood keeping it trill. Like he's actually getting to know the chick and vibing with her, playing games, shooting hoop etc, she's feeling him and he's feeling her, neither are insecure that's REAL as hell - yeah it's a music video so might be a bit glamourised, but not too far from the truth! No twerking, flossing too much wealth, strip clubs etc. Honestly feel these sorts of songs were pushing forward the high vibration and not that low washed out vibration you see today and it was a whole generation influence vibe for sure, you see a man at the top of his game and a girl at the top of hers and they both fated to be with each other sort of flex. Can remember girls being way easier to talk to back then, our gen (early 90s kids) weren't as demoralised as todays gen I feel, and there was far less sexual tension between men and women that compared to today. Got me feeling nostalgic as hell!
This reminds me of the early 2000’s and walking over to the public library to hop on their computers to get onto MSN Instant Messenger and MySpace to see what my friends were up to. I would take my Chingy CD’s with me and pop em’ into the computer so I could listen as I chilled for an afternoon. Dang, those were the days…
Yup can relate as I was 16 in 2003. Smartphones with more and more features are what changed everything for the worse. I don't think the damage was truly done until the early 2010s if I think back
Literally same here going into my college library to type up an essay but was more busy checking out my Friendster, the Mtv messageboards, and brought my Cd booklet with me.
Oh how the times have changed... These were the days. Songs with good vibes and decent rappers not singing bout the same shit. Miss these Days. RIP HIP-Hop 1990-2008. Shits makin a rebirth soon tho I can feel it.
It never died, it ws just suffocated and supressed by the radio stations because of the dance/beat snap era. Change is necessary tho because now everyone seems to have a greater appreciation for talented artist and in a way it raised the bar for new artists and established artists.
The hell you talkin bout' 1990-2008? 05-08 was probably the worst era of rap with the emergence of platinum selling ringtone rap, and one hit wonders. I believe hip hop is definitely in a good space right now though.
05-08 had bangers and had more of a southern flavor to it. It was music you played when u where with friends fucking around in those hot summers and cold winters. Music now is just shit with a few exceptions like I said earlier.
MrStreetballer5 I swear you have to be young. It's funny because I remember back then when this song was out ('03/'04), So much hate was towards it and the South. People were saying it was 'dying' then. lol. '06-'07 was probably the worst time in Hip-Hop/Rap period. Yeah, sure, that time had (club) 'bangers' but there was no balance. You're stuck in nostalgia. And stop with that played out "RIP Hip-Hop/Rap" line. It never died. It went underground. Nowadays it has gotten better. Not better than '00-'05, but it is a lot better then where it was.
Lets just reiterate when I say hip-hop is dead I'm referring to mainstream hip-hop. Underground hip-hop is going through a golden age rn with many underground labels coming together and such. Also I never said this song itself I'm referring to the overall songs that came out during that period of time.
2023 I’m still here!! I was a teenager singing this as it played on 106& park!! I LOVED Chingy! 😂 this song was always my fav! 🔥 Jason Weaver never disappoints either!!
***** You should wear whatever you like, and I personally think baggy clothes looks fine, but I would be careful about calling it an afro-american thing, as it is certainly isn't something that was brought about from afro-american culture. Sagging was adopted from the United States prison system where belts were sometimes prohibited as to prevent prisoners from using them as weapons or committing suicide. Thus its origin is from prison inmates, not a particular ethnicity. The reason this type of clothes has been worn in rough neighbourhoods by kids and youngsters is due to the fact that a lot of them wore hand-me-downs from older siblings as it was cheaper, and having it "hang" was considered cool because of the popularity from inmates who wore them low. However hand-me-downs is not why it became popular in adults, and it did not spring from hiphop. The ancestors of rap did not wear baggy clothes, it came much later.
Can we go back😩… I’m so glad I was a teenager during these times… It was so simple… I really appreciate coming of age during those times… this new ish overwhelming.
hell yes man i miss those days.. everything still seemed in tune and felt hopeful then in early 2000's-2005 after the big crash in 2007 all hell broke loose it seems the economy got fucked up and never been the same since.
I remember being 10 years old listening to this song when it first came out . Now that I’m 30 and been through life , it’s pure nostalgia. Life was way better when I was 10 . Now there’s a bill due every week, my stepdad just passed away. My mother needs help emotionally after losing her husband . Different problems occurs each day and I’m trying my best to hold on but life is crazy right now and everytime I hear this song it takes me back to a place where life was beautiful .
The Fuck, when this shit came out in 2000 they was saying that one call away was wack and the shit tupac an biggie was making was better. Ya gotta make up your minds.. I like the music now Drake is hot shit.
Thx 4 the info, it's just a shame to see true talent go to waste, so that commercialized garbage bums can take all the endowments of the music industry ugh!!
These were the days when Music Videos had LIFE and COLOR and SOUL to them. The 90s & Early 2000s was the Golden/Silver age when the realms were touched by the Heavens life truly felt like you were in another Dimension back then like Heaven on Earth. Now we live in the Dark Age where everything is dark and depressing. I can still feel the divine Nostalgia from this era.
Back when kids were playing on the streets. Back when technology wasn't everything like Dubstep or over Auto-tune (T-Pain is an exception). They sucked the soul out of music. Now it's just Nigga this, and Nigga that. Killing people, smoking blunts, making money, and fucking hoes. No more rapping/singing about problems or about life or love.
Josh Willett thus what happens when these new bulls hit so called rappers sell out for the dollars the label pushes bullshit music about money cars clothes all the bs tht dont matter
