This is very very great, I'm veteran officer, going thru night shifts n protecting people in the inner circles n seen alot. This is what I really appreciate it. Sounds great.
Good songs, good singing.. As Old Southern Ways comments are,. sometimes we just sing just to be singing.. As many elders say from many 1st nations,.you gotta have heart in the song to heal your soul and mind..My views..aho
@OLDSOUTHERNWAY wasnt as these meetings but was in chinle three weeks ago and went to meetig there and in many farms and the young guys there sang with al their heart so well and all were on there knees when came in the water and fully respected the ceremony . was first time on the rez and was so touched ,blown away at the beauty and power of thw way the meetings are out there djone
I'm sure that applies to everyday life, as we all are all comfortable in our daily life styles. I lived on the reservation and grew up with my grandparents during the hot summer days. We younger generation cant stand a chance living like our elders.
Nice set, thanks for sharing! First 2 songs indeed have Comanche words, but I think the tune is Kiowa. Someone correct me if I'm wrong though! Always enjoy learning more about these songs and ways of life.
Correct me if I'm wrong but I remember this meeting being held out in Crownpoint, New Mexico. I have this same track, I have a recording of this whole meeting. I remember being in there.
Don't get me wrong - I love my Catholic Church (as also NAC), cause my grandparents raised me in there. But I hate all this photographing thing. And when you take pictures, you detach from the ceremony. Instead of putting you into it completely, you work on trying to conserve it in your camera for the future. Who am I to jusge or teach. Just I think - be aware, don't make it a habit :) It is a temptation nowdays - make virtual copy of everything :) After all this: Great songs, thanks :)
Guys, your discussion about recording in meetings. I am not native and don't live in US. So I really appreciate CD'ies. BUT I would say avoid recording meetings. Because taking pics and videotaping comes next. Then you have it as in Catholic Church: you take your first communion and everybody is photographing as you open your mouth. Destroys something important, takes away sacredness...
@Avlong63 "Jimmy Rocke"? That name sounds familiar, i was in Okinawa @ the time when my my wife told me he had passed, m i talked to my Ma'Sanii & she told me his prayers are still protecting me & gave me words of encouragement of that i still have a duty for our family & shi dine
