I AM 45 AND I AM STILL LISTEINING TO FREESTYLE , HOUSE MUSIC, TECNO, N OLD SCHOOL HIP HOP , RNB , PRETTY MUCH EVERYTHING THAT IS OLD SCHOOL IS BASICALLY JUST ABOUT THE ONLY TYPE OF MUSIC N SONGS OF AN ERA MY ERA LATE 80S EARLY 90S WORTH LISTEINING TO EVERYTHING ELSE IS MOSTLY STRAIGHT UP TRASH ,ITS NOT HEART FELT, NOT WRITTEN WITH SO MUCH THOUGHT, FLOW OF REAL EMOTIONS OF THE HEART N SOUL JUST POURING OUT ON A PIECE OF PAPER ,INTO LYRICS THAT CAN MAKE THE HARDEST MAN OF STEEL CRY N ITS MUSIC THAT I CALL SOUL MUSIC , STRAIGHT UP HARD CORE MUSIC THAT WILL PULL AT UR HEART STRINGS N MAKE U SAY OH DAM I KNOW EXACTLY HOW THAT DUDE FEELS OR THAT CHICK FEELS !
Very well said, agree 80% I leave 20% possibility open because once in awhile someone makes good music with real soul and feeling lol but I agree that’s it’s more rare these days. Unfortunately I think the music, the world and people were just more real, sincere and genuine back then before technology/software changed and took over everything creative like music…that era back then was just super special, a moment in time that can’t be recreated the same way…it can be remixed tho and paid tribute to…which some producers do pretty well…but anyway I agree with your sentiment, even tho I wasn’t really old enough back then, but as a true music lover and dj, I recognize what you say is true! That said I try to keep an open mind because there is so much music being made now and there is definitely good house and dance music being made, it’s just a lot more options to dig through…

You should be mad at the distributors and streaming companies (like Spotify that REFUSE) to pay artists a living wage (0.0065 cents per stream, yes that includes RU-vid!)

A huge breakbeat - freestyle track in the South-East in '87, including the last days of the London proto-House occasional warehouse scene in the year London got its first regular, licensed House - Dance clubs. Chip E's "heartache" classic was also major during the early summer raves in what was for some of us the first "Second Summer of Love" for those who were there. (The year before the well-known first "Second Summer of Love in 88, with the second "Second Summer of Love" being 89. By summer 90, the word was that the Second Summer of Love lasts forever, while few knew it started the year before 88. Anyway the logical conclusion goes something like summer never ends, if you know, despite the weather.) "If You Only Knew" was one of the few huge anthems at the the West Hampstead Fire Station summer 87 too. Sending love if you were there. I remember this was usually played at the Fire Station before the Liebrand mix of Taja Sevelle's "Love is Contagious", then the Paradise Garage mix of Carly Simon's "Why" and the original "Moments in Love" by Art of Noise. Not sure if it's right, but back at this time I knew Chip E from Chicago as the Father of House Music, for being the first to get there, with Marshall Jefferson on his heels as the Godfather of House, DJ Pierre the Father of Acid House and Leonard Remix Roy another contender for the Father of House title - all Chicago guys. It was probably shared between the first and last, while I'm sure I also have memories of Lil Louis doing full-on, mixed House nights back in 84 in low-key venues near or in Chicago which didn't get the renown that Jefferson and Co got, and Louis wasn't "in the club" back then. I guess it's also about releasing records - Louis was producing club nights and I think it was years before he released any music commercially.
