There is probably a voltage monitor across those parallel resistors. Voltage is current times resistance, so when you solder an extra resistor across those two, the resistance will drop. So you need more current to get an equivalent voltage reading.

I'm also in Kansas and used Greentech recently for a battery swap for my second gen Insight. It worked out well with them being local.

One of these days we will be able to afford the Li ion swaps in our first generation insights. Until then used cell from bumblebee. Great video.

The equivalent of taking an old computer, well past it's time, and giving it slightly faster ram or a processor just slightly better than it had. It's faster, but not by so much that anyone than yourself will notice.

Flux is the answer. Buy some proper electronics flux (it comes in a syringe, or a pen), and the solder will flow so much better.

I was nervous you were gonna melt some conductors, then you said the car is totally overbuilt with around 100% margin, so yeah, reduce the value of the current shunt to trick the computer, probably not gonna break too many things.

I would have been super nervous about the soldering part.

Nah abusing the battery would increase it's health. I figured that out with my Prius. The more I drove it the better the health got, better acceleration, mpg, ac run time without engine cycling etc.

I'd be curious to see how the hack works with the LI pack. Wonder if they have one for the CR-Z.

I think you are going to need to redo that soldering. It does not have to be perfect but I don’t think that is going to hold up

Chrisfix installed a new battery pack a while back for a lot less than $2300. A certain other youtuber said he could have died the way he did it. Spoiler, no death was involved.
