We kayak down the Chipola River with Doug Alderson, nature author and Assistant Chief of the Florida Office of Greenways and Trails. We selected a section of the Chipola River Paddling Trail with a few good highlights. The first is the Ovens, which is likely the only dry cave directly accessible from a Florida River. After that, we visit one of 63 springs that feed the river, the most of any in northwest Florida.
For more information on the paddling trail, and for links to further adventures on the Chipola River, visit the WFSU Ecology Blog: blog.wfsu.org/... in a new tab)

So beautiful. I live close to the withlacoochee river north and Alapaha then Suwannee. But I've yet to visit the Chipola. I'd heard after Micheal there is still a lot of dead fall. Is winter a good time to paddle?
