A preview of the EXCELLENT campsites hidden away in Surry, Virginia at the Chippokes Plantation State Park, a working plantation. This campground is just south of Jamestown / Williamsburg on the south side of the James River.
This a true Virginia gem! You have wonderful beach access to the James River (tidal section), as well as a true Olympic-size swimming pool with 12' deep diving area. The Chippokes Mansion is a nice tour, as well as the Farming & Plantation Museum full of yester-year equipment, tools, and lifestyle displays. All within a nice bike ride away from one of the most private, cleanest campgrounds we have been to yet in Virginia. Virginia State campgrounds are some of the best I have seen anywhere, but Chippokes is up near the top... And it is out of the way enough to be quiet and private! We highly recommend this State Park!
