Never in a million years would I have guessed that Sinead O'Connor did an ABBA cover. Kudos to her for recognizing the genius of the song and then taking it to a higher level.
I rarely enjoy ABBA covers because they make me long to see ABBA live. However, Sinead's cover was so beautiful that it makes me long to see Sinead alive again. R.I.P., Sinéad O'Connor.
All of our love and respect from Argentina. Sinèad was always so beloved here . Her version of Chiquitita is just another proof of her gigantic talent . She`s now joining the angels , no doubt of that
Sinead, again, pierces through the heart of the song and all of the emotion that is inside it. Sure, Abba's original has the harmonies and the polish, but Sinead delivers the raw humanity. You can't listen to this with a smile on your face anymore. She was an astounding singer.
much as i love sineads voice this arrangement is too overwhelming against the simplicity of the melody ..it takes away from the vocal rather than enhancing it.Bad combination
Ms O'Connor's choice. It seems from the uncritical encomiums that have been flowing in like a flood since her death that she was incapable of making a poor decision.
Touched by her beautiful voice in a modest and rebel way staying pure; she give s an amazing version, like always she stays in my heart and mind; no doubt she s one of the greatest artist/singer of this fragile at the same time amazing strong planet just like she was; R.I.P.
Chills. How sorry I am that she's gone but hope that she rests in peace and power. Going through her vast back catalogue of performances, how grateful I am that they exist. Like others have said, she was one of maybe a handful of singers/musicians who could interpret any style of song and not only make it her own but make it so very much better.
Things will change, chiquitita, you will dance once more, the sorrow will pass (no matter how total it feels right now)! I wish every little "Sinéad-girl" would hear that! (and discover hope for tomorrow even in the darkest hour!)
Maybe it's because she is gone, listening to this just broke my heart. There is a grief in this performance and I hear ache in the way that she phrases this song.
2:37 - 2:50 I sobbed. How does Sinead do that? A song I've heard a million times before but never really listened to, & now I understand it's a poem about surviving the hardest moments of your life. Thank you again, Sinead. Oh the many times you sang that same song to me, with different words, when we were both young. 💖💖💖
