What did you expect? When the old "Movie Studio system", went the way of the "Dodo Bird", and the "Passenger Pigeon". The old movie studios aren't around to groom, and cultivate the next generation of 'Dick Van Dykes' and 'Julie Andrews', and 'Fred Astairs', and 'Frank Sinatras'. And now, there's an even SADDER TRAGEDY, looming on the horizon. With the 'Digitalization' of the movies
Toot sweets exist in real. There are these things called Melody Pops, they're a whistle made out of a lollipop. But I don't call them Melody Pops, I call em Toot Sweets 😉😉
SAME! I thought I was the only one that was terrified of him. I could not watch the scenes or listen to them. I always asked my dad to tell me when it was over. I was also scared of the White Witch in the Narnia movies and the Bankers in Mary Poppins, yet I could watch any of the first two transformer movies and hardly flinch.
Because she did the replacement casts of 'Fair Lady' and 'Camelot', she was unfairly considered the 'second-stringer' Julie Andrews. I would say that she's Julie without the mannerisms. I first met Ms. Howes 30 years ago after seeing her onstage in 'A Little Night Music' and she was one of the nicest, most genuine celebrities I've ever encountered. Met her again twice years after and she always remembered me. God bless her, I hope she's well.

Also at the end, they were suppose to blow into the toot-sweets to create a tune that eventually attracted dogs, which was discovered in the end that it was a dog whistle sweet haha .
Ok, so there's a musical I'm going to audition for, (It's this movie), and I'm planning to use this song! I'm going to audition as the little girl, though I bet you any song from this will be good enough. (Just in case, I'm going to have a song she sings as a backup or something.) Wish me luck!
We were meant to be doing a show during this (next week to be persize) but was cancelled due to the pandemic. I miss it so much.... Edit 11.07.20: Tonight should have been the first day. Really missing it.... Edit 8.10.20: we have been going back for 5 weeks now xx
You can tell it was most likely re-recorded or editted because when Truly's father was smashing the other candies at the trays and when he was telling him to go away, it is not in the audio(: .
LOL i have a candy cane looks jsut liek it haha but w out the whistle holes is it possible to make a candy kane but like make holes in it on the top or w out the crunchy filling inside n make it jsut liak flute not candy :D
To afaultytoaster Perhaps they recorded all the songs twice - once in a studio (with absorbing accoustics) and a second time in a music hall kinda thing. (though all the voices seem to be identical/in-sync to the film. (Thanks for putting these songs up, by the way!)
This version is ok, but it's not the same recording that was used in the film. Some of the intonation is different, e.g. the line right at the beginning the line 'if you seek perfection in sugar confection', Dick Van Dyke's voice goes up at 'perfection' in the film yet in this recording there is less stress on the word. Also, this version is shorter, has a different instrumental arrangement in the middle and it has a different ending.
