Actually, this came from largely the same cast and crew that made the James Bond film "Goldfinger". The villains are played by the same actor, and even Desmond Llewelyn, who played Q in literally every James Bond film up until "Die Another Day", makes an appearance as the owner of the scrap yard where Chitty sits.

The grandpa has never driven a car or anything so he thinks hes going somewhere nice on the trip thinking its the new posh way on getting around. xD
