Several years ago I took a vow of chivalry and swore myself to be a knight for Christ as it saddened me to see almost no men catholic or otherwise were held by any guidance of honor and courtesy. To hear y’all talk about it’s importance is amazing and I hope many more men take chivalry and apply it to their daily lives both spiritually and in practice
Almost no one will understand it. Of those who do, most will think your intention deluded, or worse, pretentious. Do not expect company at your vigil. But keep vigil anyway.
Thank you for covering this lost art. Chivalry, regardless of race, culture, or religious affiliation should be a staple in every young man's upbringing.
Item first, I'm not a Catholic, but am a Christian. When I became a Sergeant First Class/ E-7 in the US Army, I felt it was a right of passage into Knighthood. It's the first rank that you lead more than just a handful of people. Growing up I had always wanted to be a Knight. I joined the Army; I became proficient in all sorts of weapons and combat; I am a land owner; I ride horses and joust in Renaissance period armor; I was Knighted by Sir James Acuff of the Lords of Chivalry. I continue to live the Knight's life. I cannot think of any piece of Christian Knighthood that I have not done, am doing or willing to do. Eric Demski has written a book that I love. the subject is concerning modern Knighthood. Romans 12 is the perfect outline to Knighthood...Rom 13:12 is my favorite verse.
One or both of these guys need to be on Charles' 'Off the Menu'. The Host of that Show is one very dim bulb. It's refreshing to hear smart Hosts asking smart questions.
When Judiaism, O T, was the true faith, respecting the woman/women, and each other, was lived. There were pagans, some not all, who did see this and adopted. This continued into the Messianic age. The N T, the Catholic church. Never having filthy works, or being among the non Catholic in our lives, with their views and for a Catholic not brought up without having contradictions and dressed up lies, as done in movies, keeps our discipline. I have seen others whose mind and living , cannot understand the decency of interacting with other persons .
