You had me just with the 3 words...1. Chocolate, 2. Pecan and 3. Cobbler. I'm making that this summer when my kids and their spouses come home to visit. Can't wait!!
OMG - you're right when you say you're here to give us good food not good diets! THIS looks amazing!!!! Looks SO worth EVERY calorie! Go Team Pecans! A friend that sends you pecans, is a friend you should definitely keep!

I'm a Georgia girl...we love our pecans. This will definitely be a dessert in our future. Thank you!! This is not good for your heart but definitely good for your soul 😂
@@beckyabroad2003 Hi Becky; I used half of each Maple and Karo syrup. I baked in oven at 350 for 35 minutes, put the rest of the filling on top baked another 20 minutes. It turned out great and the house smelled amazing! I served with Moose Tracks ice cream. I didn’t do on grill as we have excessive heat warnings.
@@TruthSeekerNC I've made a pecan pie with maple syrup before and it is yummy. So yah, doing it on the grill in cobbler form?? I don't think you can go wrong there either!!
Matt, I really wish you would do a video with each seasoning explaining what they go best on, what scenario they work best in, etc. I have them all and sometimes I just don’t know when to use which one. That would be a greatly needed video.
Tried this in Traeger Junior and here are my notes: - Took double the time for the syrup to set and surface browned, about 100 minutes. I used aluminum round baking pan. - Do not cut the dough specially the bottom one to make a perfect circle to fit the pan. Leave as is so the extra is raised above the circumference. This will stop the liquids from seeping beneath the dough and in turn getting stuck at the bottom of the pan from the heat. Mine got stuck and was very hard to remove. I heavily buttered the whole pan btw. Other than that, very good recipe. Thank you!
Thank you for the notes! Made this once and cooked it at the time in the recipe and it was still extremely soupy. Will have to try again with your suggestions
My favorite way is almost the same but the middle I use flaky layers biscuits split up. Southern Comfort is the bourbon of choice for the recipe. Dry instant coffee sprinkled on the ice cream is a tasty addition.
Made this tonight for the family. Was an instant hit!! We forgot to grab regular chocolate chips so ended up using peanut butter chips and turned out amazing!
I have never used chocolate or made a pecan pie that big, great idea. I add a pinch of salt to mine, not sure if it makes a difference but have done that for decades. The half pecans float nicely during baking, but if you have the time or creative spirit you can place them, your pie is beautiful
it’s almost like a Kentucky derby pie, but cobbler if it had the bourbon in it. I will definitely be making it. I love your sides and dessert videos. you can have a good barbecue, but if the sides stink that’s all people are going to talk about.
I made this last Thanksgiving following Matt's recipe. Very delicious. Very rich. It's on my Thanksgiving/Christmas holidays recipe list now. All of my family loved it.
So tomorrow is Father's day and we are smoking ribs and I saw this video a few days ago and immediately purchased the ingredients for this. I did change the chocolate chips to dark chocolate because I prefer dark over milk chocolate. I will let you know how it comes out.
My mother always made tarts(she called them) with leftover pie crusts- prick with fork, dot with butter, sprinkle sugar, cinnamon, then bake at pie crust temperature(425° till brown around the edges 10-15 minutes depending on your oven)😋
The wife has made a "chocolate cobbler" in the oven for years. I'm going to give this awesome looking dish a try on the smoker. GA Pecans are the best! And every GA person with a smoker has a friend with a Pecan tree so we have fresh pecan chunks or wood for our smokers! Also Matt, since you are in Texas, if you have not already tried it, you have to give La Vencedora "Vanilla Pura" a try (Mexican Vanilla). It would be awesome in a dish like this. I'm in GA and we have to have it shipped from TX so it should be easy for you to find.
This is Kentucky derby pie. Mix all ingredients and pour into 2 unbaked pie shells and voilà. I like it cold from the fridge and my kids like warm just like this.
I’m doing this asap! Thanks Matt. My mother in law does chocolate chip pecan pie for holidays. First Christmas with them, it changed my life as a pecan lover. Moving it to the pellet grill as a cobbler is a no brainer. Can’t wait.
You have changed my cooking style! forever! You keep it simple and delicious. I made your Chocolate Pecan Cobbler and OMG it was good, fed 8 of our friends, one commented it was like heaven in his mouth. Thanks so much for your videos, your seasionings and your witt!
This was awesome. My 7-year-old and I made this cobbler for Thanksgiving. This is my family's new favorite desert. We did add a shot of whiskey to the reprice. 100% will be making this again.
OMG this is amazing! My wife doesn't like sweet chocolate too much so I subsituted milk chocolate with 70% baker's chocolate and 30% milk chocolate....amazing. This is now my go --to dessert
Made this last night without the chocolate chips. It was EPIC! That said, on the next go-round, I think I'll cut the recipe in half. This thing was HUGE.
@@jjellii1228 I can’t remember now how long I baked it but pretty sure it was similar. However, it was way sweet. I don’t think it needs that added chocolate.
We have a family reunion weekend coming up and I just found the surprise desert for this year! Of course I will have to make about 8 of these but I’m sure it will be so worth it! Thanks
Gonna give it a go this weekend. That’l impress the wife for sure! Quick tip on those pecans, throw em in a ziplock bag, remove the air, bash it real good with a mallet or a rolling pin. Yeehaw from Austin! 🤠
After watching this i had to try. Your instructions were great i followed them to the T. In the second stage of the cook just smelling the cook was absolutely amazing. I entered it in a church pie/dessert contest and won on the first go. Thanks much an amazing dessert.
I haven't had sugar in over three weeks. Waiting for an opportunity like this to make it worthwhile instead of just eating awful garbage from the grocery aisle. Looks amazing man.
I discovered last year that my friends from Vermont use maple syrup in their pecan pies instead of corn syrup. Might have to try this with a little substitute.
The lady in Austin probably got the chocolate idea from Paula Dean, who makes a Chocolate chip, bourbon pecan pie. I can't even eat pecan pie without chocolate chips now.
Can’t wait to come check out the new store. By the way, I layer the fajita rub on all the pork I cook. I combine it with a sweeter rub. I did thy on pulled pork over Memorial Day and it was the best pulled pork I’ve ever made. Oh, this recipe is awesome too. Thanks for your videos man.
Melt that chocolate and use 1/2 unsweetened 1/2 milk. Cool it a touch and mix that into the egg/sugar/butter mix and it will be more uniform and it will be chef’s kiss.
