I used to be able to reach soprano notes............. Now I’m older and I’m limited to a weird sport between tenor, countertenor, and contralto ranges.... *End my SUFFERING*
same like there’s more altos than sopranos at my middle school and you could barely hear them. And they’re always complaining about how we’re too loud but there’s like 5 sopranos
Ours did dear theodosia. I got a solo in the song. But I couldn't sing it, because I had to go and get THE FUCKING FLU THE DAY OF THE CONCERT AND THE DOCTOR MADE ME STAY HOME. THATS SUCKED.
Literally my school! It’s so annoying because I’m a second soprano and all the second sopranos and altos sing so quietly and then I have to try to get everyone to sing louder so we can shine as much as the sopranos
Because everyone expects Sopranos to be salty, but no one has to deal with sopranos more than other sopranos, y'all we get it. If anyone wants to here my horror stories being soprano section leader, hmu. The drama is real.
It's because they are. Half of these aren't even funny it's just them getting to say "I can sing better than most people uwu im going to name myself as the one singer who can actually sing even though my choir is actually extremely talented"
The one thing that sucks is that the Mezzos get no recognition! We aren't as overrated as sopranos, and there aren't enough of us to stick out even a bit like the Altos. Where are my Mezzos at!? Let's get some recognition too! EDIT: holy crap! 225 likes!?
She's not really flexing. It's true. In every choir there will always be someone who will outshine everyone. Having been in a choir for 8 years, I should know. Every year without fail, there will always still be someone in the choir who will be better than the rest.
@@nah4266 I agree of course, but I am just saying she put "The girl who can actually sing amazingly" or whatever and then sang herself, I just think maybe she was flexing and saying that was her
in case you're wondering, that audio is from a world class beatboxer named codfish, and that was one of the pieces he did during the grand beatbox battle competiton of 2018, which he ended up becoming the grand champion of!!
those guys in the 3rd one went to my school! The blonde one with the glasses was Gaston(in Beauty and the Beast),the one next to the guy on the far right was the Beast, and the guy on the far right was Lumière. they’re all super talented and a couple of them did worship culture for the middle school (as my school’s a Christian school.) Why are none of them talking about how hard it is to sing second saprano most of the song my choir sings the seconds are rite underneath the sapranos making it literally impossible to her our part (This is just me ranting lol)
Sunset Gacha Dude, I feel ya. I’m usually a soprano 1, and then the second I switched to soprano 2 to try I almost had a full on panic attack. Like seriously, I had already memorized soprano 1 after the first run through(not even my section at the time) but still couldn’t grasp soprano 2. Anyways, never doing that again.
Our choir director is like “OMG! a person sang! Only the sopranos sing. The altos have been taken over by popular girls who don’t care and of course every guy is obnoxious.
@@abigailjudd40 preach, we have 8 Baritones and 4 basses(2 of which don't sing, so me and the other guy are carrying the section), and the basses are still louder because only like 2-3 baritones actually sing. We also have 6 tenors but you can only ever hear the section leader.
@@ronankelley7768 there are a lot of tenors who can't control their volume on higher notes, and push in order to keep it in chest, making it often too loud. This isn't always the case, but it's the stereotype. (Source: I was one of those tenors before my voice became a 2nd bass)
5:11 im not in choir but im pretty sure that the choir teacher at my school just puts all male members into bass section because half of them have much higher voices but are still forced to sing lower than they actually have the ability to so then they sound like shit. and to anyone who has even the slightest understanding of music it's obvious that the female members are actually put into the right sections.
Tenors can at least sing in falsetto on higher notes(as long as you force them to not belt), but the guy mix in my choir is terrible, there's only 2 tenor 1s, 5 tenor 2s, 4 bass 2s, and a whopping 8 baritones. It ends up working out though because of all the guys who don't make noise
You are very much correct...about the boys. It a mad house when trying to figure out what you are and then everyone wants to yell at the chorus teacher for not listening to us and putting altos is the soprano 1 part but there to terrified of the director to say anything.
This reminds me of that one time my school’s choir sung carol of the bells and like, half of them were just saying, “ring”. And I’m just sitting here in the orchestra section trying not to laugh.
There’s this one lady in my choir who insists on making her vibrato so loud that it practically drowns the rest of us out and it’s super frustrating, especially cause she doesn’t stop even for the songs that aren’t supposed to have vibrato.
SSAA is great, nothing against boys, but they rarely pay attention if it's a school choir in my experience. If it's an auditioned one like All-State, it's different, though.
Hey Band kid here just wanna say you guys are pretty rad! Also love how much you guys make fun of the Sopranos, it’s like us making fun of the trumpets
We had a song where we had to sing the word “cain’t”. After four years of our teacher making us go over perfect vowels again and again and again. We were going strong the whole way through but the second we got to that word the entire choir froze cause we literally could not make ourselves sing that word
Can't relate, the choir I joined when I studied in Japan during elementary days was fun as heck. We'd join these shows and had fieldtrips. My teacher made us all sing a simple piece together then she started adjusting us and dividing us into altos and sopranos. We all got along and even when I moved back to my country everyone gave me letters and gifts and honestly I lived for that moment :DD
As the freshman who got solos over seniors, I FELT THAT! They talked so much crap about me and were constantly talking about how their junior/senior friends should've gotten it.
My choir director lets the sopranos learn there part they get it in like only to run throughs then she spend like five minutes on each measure for us Altos LIKE I GAVE THE PART GUYS LISTEN TO ME HALF OF ALTO PART IS NOT SINGING BECAUSE MY CHOIR ONLY GAS THREE PARTS AND GUYS WONT SING like what the heck the dudes in my section don’t even sing the stand there and mouth it goodness’s it sucks
It depends what school you go to, like in my school the sopranos act terribly, the boys are so well behaved. The altos (me and like five other girls) we listen a lot but can get distracted a bit.
I'm also a soprano but I'm not offended. They don't mean it seriously. This is for entertainment purposes only. Maybe I'm just not offended by this because we're a girls choir(soprano, mezzo, alto).
I remember my music teacher yelled at me for not being quite and not listeng and blames me for being in the music club just because my crush was there. Wat-
Lol, my choir teacher talks about how “AMAIZING!” This girl is at singing for a good 30 minutes. Then complains about how there is only 10 minutes left.
When everyone’s talking about us sopranos being mad and “salty” but the reason we’re salty is because in my class sopranos do all the work and no one else even cares they just mess around.
I’m the person who can sing several parts and has a loud singing voice but isn’t good. I’m also the person who is terrible at singing but is somehow in the really good choir
b r u h personally I think us sopranos are WAY too overrated like do you actually know how hard it is to hit those highest notes, a girl in my school fainted because she didn’t breathe properly and tried to hit the note. And I think the saddest this about these tiktoks is like at least *half* of them don’t sing in choirs, so when people in choirs actually hate on sopranos they just tag along to get a few extra views Don’t even get me started on second soprano-
I’m an alto and we were practicing a song and the teacher said ok just the Sopranos and they sung our part (the only time us altos got the melody in a song) and the teacher said ok um your singing the altos part and they started yelling at us for no reason and some soprano yelled “But we always get the melody altos are just there to make us sound better!” I wanted to punch the kid.
Hi guys :D i'm the alto that somehow got into the soprano section :D and i SUFFERED so i quit and joined a band instead :D and play music instead singing
Bruh idk why everyone’s sad about being a soprano. I’m a theater kid so it might be different, but the sopranos sing all the melodies and carry the whole musical, while the altos are just there singing some low notes. I’m just saying 💅🏽
I, a band kid, have spent a solid 2 hours looking at choir tiktoks, and I believe I now have a basic understanding of the parallels between choir and band stereotypes. Sopranos = Trumpet ego + Flute/Color Guard pettiness Mezzos = French Horn skills (i.e., quite a bit) + Baritone player recognition (i.e., no recognition) Altos = Clarinet fun factor + Double Reed invisibility Tenors = Saxophone swag + Percussion crackhead energy Bass = The low brass. Enough said. ... Did I get that right?
@Marguerite Bourgeois Yeah but y'all are overrated as hell which sucks because all the other sections get ignored even though they probably have some amazing singers
I remember when I was in middle school and was a mezzo-soprano. The director got mad at me because I couldn't reach a note. It was a fucking whistle note!
