Bike looks great!! I've had the 36 inch Samson's on my 05 fat boy since 2008. Have not had a problem with them at all. I choloed out it also with 16 inch apes, 21 inch 80 spoke in the front and 16 inch in back. F ing love that style!
Bro, I've been catching up piece by piece in staggered order but all have been great. Watching your journey as inspiration for the possibilities I may head toward with this type of bike. 🤙Ride safe brotha!🤙
Sounds great ❤ I just placed an order of these Samson 36’s for 22’ Heritage. The wait time is roughly 8 weeks. How long did it take for you to get these Samsons exhaust
Stunning Cholo bike brother, being following your videos, please don't stop posting , I enjoy the production, editing and music on them. Working on get mine done, I'm half way.
Thanks Vick, the bike is in the shop at the moment for new wheels. But ill be sure to do a wheels film as soon as I get it back. Good luck with your build. Putting it all together is half the fun
Hey man, so you don’t have to do a bunch of engine work to get that bark when you let off the throttle? I’ve been searching everywhere to find out how to get my bike to do this but can’t find shit on the internet. It’s really just the pipes that do that? And do you think it will bark even it’s everything is stock? I mean I have a high flow RSD intake but still? Im in love with the bark sound
I been thinking of the 42" Cholos for a while now and I think I'm just gonna go for it. Ur bike is SICK and sounds awesome now. U talked my into it lol
Hi John, i have just received my Samson pipes and I’ve noticed there is a bracket under the transmission cover that secures the right side pipe. Did you use this bracket to secure Samson right side pipe? Love the new look in your latest video. Have you thought about changing the rear indicator lenses with the jet flame ones, they would look cool?
Nope, didn't use the existing bracket. I only use the samson brackets. The more I think about those lenses the less I want to use them. At first they seemed kinda cool, but now I kinda feel like it's cool not to have them
Hey man did you have to use different brackets where the slip ons connect? The stock brackets on this used bike I bought don’t match up to the slip on bolts
The samson exhaust comes with the brackets you'll need. If you just need the brackets at this point then try Steady Custom Cycles. They sell some heavy duty brackets that I've been using for a few months now. Definitely recommend
Saw that you had removed the baffles, was this alright for a fuel injected bike and did you have to get it tuned after. I’ve got Vance & Hines long shots on mine right now
It will run fine without baffles. You might get a few pops on the downrev. In a perfect world you'd want to re-tune for that, but you truly don't need to unless you're changing your intake as well.
Them fishtails are super sharp and will lay a shin wide open! Mine have laid a drunk biker wide open a time or three at the Lone Star Rally in Galveston! I could get pissed because they ran into my bike, but as soon as I see their pants torn I know they are bleeding and they usually limp off apologizing for hitting my bike. They are too drunk to realize how injured they are until much later!
is your bike lowered 2 inches permanently? no air ride? I'm thinking of getting some 36" for my lowered Train, just wondering how much Scrapping?? BTW Bad Ass Bike!!!
Bike looks great! So just curious because i am putting the same pipes on my 13' softail slim and i am no mechanic lol will i be able to do this or do i need to take it to Harley or whatever?
You'll be able to do it yourself, and you'll gain mechanical confidence in doing so. It's pretty straightforward as far as "nuts and bolts" go. The only difficult/frustrating part was sealing up leaks on the cross pipe. Like any mod, take your time, be organized, and get some exhaust pipe sealant before you begin because you'll probably need it.
@@JETFILMCHANNEL thanks brother i appreciate it. . just got the pipes in today so tomorrow is the big day. . lord i hope this goes well lol. Be safe out there much respect💪🙌
Well, this was 2 years ago, the bike is completely different now. I ended up doing stretched fenders which made the 36's short. So I now have 40's. Watch the more recent videos, I talk about them and why.
Yeah, it will sound a little funny if its leaking a lot. Try sticking your hand around the area of some of the connection points, and feel for blowing air while its idling.
I just sold my HD, so in a market for a used Deluxe or RK to do a similar build, however I'm limited to garage space, what is the overall length of the bike from front tire to the tips of the pipes?
Hey man, sorry to hear that. I did use the FP3 and used an off the shelf stage 1 map. It'll ask you which hardware you are using and you just input what you have into the map. Just so you're aware, these pipes will sacrifice a couple lbs of torque compared to stock. It's a trade off for the looks. If the bike is really running badly you may have a significant exhaust leak. Check all connections especially the crossover behind the rear cylinder. If the leak is bad, it'll sound really crappy especially at low rpm under moderate-high load and it'll kill your power. I've been there, it takes patience to get those connections to seal properly. You may want to look at picking up some pipe sealer at the auto parts store.
@@JETFILMCHANNEL Cheers John for the advice. You were right in your video, these are pig to install and I’m going to double check that crossover. When I installed the crossover I had issues with gear shifter linkage hitting the pipe and I spent hours adjusting it just to stop it from hitting.
Managed to resolve my issues, that bloody cross pipe was leaking and where it connected to the rear cylinder. The inner nut on the rear cylinder is virtually impossible to get onto due to the return bend on the pipe. I note on one of your more recent videos you had to get the cross over pipe replaced but you do not say why. Would be interested to know what happened just in case it’s something I need to look out for. How are you getting on with those DNA wheels, possibly my next purchase when the wife isn’t looking? You now how it is.
Bought these pipes with my trump money just got em in today . Got an 04 heritage softail classic . Throwing em on tomorrow . Can’t wait. Subscribing rn. Bad ass channel man
J.E.T. FILM you weren’t lying about the pain in the ass install man. But definitely worth it. I had a two into one that sounds like a scooter compared to these pipes lmao
I just installed my 36 :( the left muffler stick out to the left about 1 inch can't figure it out...to doesn't look right. Might have to bend the bracket a bit 🤔
Thanks, it absolutely does. But then again, this is the wrong style of build to try and squeeze out every ounce of power. The pipes alone will hurt power, even if I installed the baffles. 2-1 is best for power but it ruins the look and the sound of the style im going for. Got to make compromises somewhere. Cheers!
I have a 2017 street bob but watching your videos made me want a deluxe soo bad now. Sucks they are no longer gunna make them. Looking forward to more videos
Front cylinder, easy. Rear cylinder pipe install, a complete nightmare! Plumbing up that u-turn and getting to the nuts that go to the head, close to impossible! I am extremely mechanical inclined and by the time I was done, I wished I would have taken it to the shop!
Oh man, I know it. It sucked, and to make it worse I had to fix so many reoccurring leaks in that "crossover" area. So many bloody knuckles. But in the end, it looks/ sounds awesome which made it all worth it
Yup,,a bitch to install,,i had the same one side duel set up on my deluxe with bologna cut,,sounded nice but i like the true duel look,,at least 12 hours to install on a deluxe
I am doing a 36 inch install now , the cross over pipe hits the fins on the back of the jug. And the nut is impossible to tighten up because the pipe is to close to the stud. This is definitely a defect in the jigs they use to manufacture these exhaust systens. If samson does not help I will be returning this Samson 36 inch Cholos , it should not be this way to spend a 1000 bucks and to have the cross over pipe actually hit the rear jug and the non tightening of the nut issue , Samson knows there are issues and does nothing to the manufacturing process to make it right. I know 3 other bikes to have these pipes and they do not have a problem ...... Mine is a 15 heritage softail classic
Excellent observation. That's correct, the bag would have had contact with the left side exhaust. Kind of a bummer that I lost the storage space, but I counteracted the loss with a small bag mounted to my risers. Not great, but it helps.
@@JETFILMCHANNEL Ahhh I was kinda hoping you had figured out a way of keeping it. Getting ready to install some Samson 39" on my bike and was hoping for some additional storage other than a fork mounted bag
I didn't put up much of fight when I had to take it off because the strings that held it in place were starting to wear away the black frame paint. You could look into the triangle shaped metal tool box which gives a little extra space
Did you use cones since you took out the I just ordered some and girl told me to the cone since I am taking out baffles.. did you have to add power commander
No cones...yet. I do feel a very slight loss in torque in the low end, but it does feel better in the mid range. I'm running an FP3 so I re-tuned for the new pipes.
@@JETFILMCHANNEL awesome build... I'm ordering my pipes for the deluxe this week man, still need handlebars and wheels though. When tuning with the FP3... I didn't notice a samson map on there, what map did you use?
Yeah, it doesn't cover every exhaust, but try to get it as close as possible. I think I used the Vance and Hines fishtail true duals map, which is an almost identical exhaust. Then run Autotune for a couple hundred miles and let the FP3 fine tune your map to suit your engine and mods, apply to autotune and you should be good to go. Customization features on the FP3 are great to set idle speeds, exhaust pop, etc.
Hello, I have a question I’m having my 2011 Softail deluxe custom I’m changing my stuck exhaust, to a Samson 36״ fishtail. Do I need to do powerVision Tune on that???
You can change the exhaust without a tune, but if you change the intake then you'll need a tune. If you already have a tune and want to fine tune it for that particular exhaust than it wouldn't hurt. I changed mine to match my pipes, didn't really notice a difference though.
I'm 5.11 but I always rest my feet on the highway pegs which stretches out the legs. If you like the look of the deluxe but find it too small, then check out the road king, its very similar but larger.
Permatex pipe sealant tape works pretty well for this, and a wide band exhaust clamp can help spread the load to capture more area. Make sure the mating surface is clear of any grit too. I've come to accept that it will never be perfect for very long. The exhaust always finds a way out especially with the amount of vibration the system puts up with. Best you can do is make it as perfect as possible from the start, and retighten every now and then.
It's very rare that you'll need to completely remove the headers. Replaced the whole swingarm without touching the exhaust. If you do, just repeat the process.
Hi there, I’ve just pulled the trigger on these 36inch cholos for my 2011 deluxe stage3. I’m based in the Uk 🇬🇧 so won’t get them for a few weeks. Any advice on installation would be appreciated. Once I get these on the handlebars are next. I’m struggling to find carlini gangster apes. They only seem to sell throttle by wire bars. May have to go burly gorilla bars.
Hey man, sounds awesome. I've heard lately that Carlini's were almost impossible to find. Everything is sold out. The only tricky part of the fishtail install is eliminating the inherent exhaust leak at the "crossover" connection points. People without leaks are the lucky few. But there are a few ways of creating seals for those leaks, I personally used permatex exhaust puddy and tape and it worked pretty well. Some new exhaust gaskets wouldn't hurt, they're very cheap.
@@JETFILMCHANNEL I purchased the gaskets, flanges, torque cones and the chrome bracket upgrade as my bikes pretty chromed out. Shame about the Carlini bars. Thanks for the advice on the exhaust sealant. Keep posting the vids, nice to see someone who appreciates the cholo design that doesn’t actually look like a gangster. I mean that in the nicest possible way.
You don't have to but it'll run better if the tune is specific to a "non baffled" exhaust. I'm using an FP3 so I re-mapped it right in the garage, 5 min. Good question
@@JETFILMCHANNEL ok thanks got 05 deluxe Sampson duels Arlen Ness intake I’ve used fuel pak on my Sportsters any thing you recommend to remap please let me know thanks Chopper Dave
Ive had nothing but problems keeping the connection behind the rear cylinder on the crossover tight as well lol. So bad that it changes the sound on that side. Ive been tempted to weld the shit and cut it when i ever have to tale the exhaust off
J.E.T. FILM awesome tour bike is the Best 😎 looking out here on RU-vid. What year is your bike? Thinking about to sell my bobber & get a heritage awesome bikes
It's a 2013, bit if you're planning on doing a full cholo build then I'd recommend the deluxe. A heritage is very similar to a deluxe, but it would require slightly more work to get it to look Cholo'd out.
I got one neighbor like that. She crys about anything and everything. I leave for work every morning around 5:30 she just luvs me lol when I take my road king
Haha luckily I'm cool with my neighbors, so I try not to push it too far. I'll roll it down the road 100yrds before I cold start it for work at 5am. These unbaffled fishtails have a tendency to make some noise.
@@JETFILMCHANNEL I'll light her off in the driveway for about 3mins to get the oil moving. But I'll take off and shift at low rpm but once I hit the main road it's no holds bar lol
@@JETFILMCHANNEL Hep thank you for your repply but i'm not the best in english because i come from Belgium. If i understand well it's possible to use a baffle if i buy only a samson fishtail but not with scc ...what is scc? :) When i check your video at 1.46 you take off the original baffle? so if i understand well i can buy another one to reduce the decibel? does it work? lol
Hey man, i made a video about a year ago and i named of all the mods I had done. I didn't put links though, maybe ill do another film soon and rename all the mods including the new ones and add the links.
