In 2016, Caicai quit her job and rented a dilapidated house in mountains and started a hostel. Three years of transformation brought her zero income and wiped out her saving, and she even had to mortgage her downtown property. To keep the environment as it is, Caicai refused to mend the road. All construction materials were carried in manually. And guests also have to climb up a 15-minute slope to get to the door step of the hostel.
