In this Pokemon Scarlet and Violet video my friend and I RANDOMIZE our starter Pokemon, but we can only tell each other their Japanese name! If we say the Pokemon's name is Gekkouga, that's going to be Greninja. After we choose SIX RANDOM POKEMON STARTERS we will then battle each other. Oh, definitely Purin (Jiglypuff) and i forgot about it but i for sure knew about Ghost (Haunter) as well. Almost as good as Sandshrew just being "Sand"

I do remember that Purin was Jigglypuff and that all Future Paradox names start with "Tetsuno". The Japanese names of Polteageist and the Gastly line were actually really interesting. Fun fact: Bulbapedia says that Potdeath may be a pun on ポットです _potto desu_ ("It's a teapot").

As someone who knows Japanese and kind of knows how to pronounce the Japanese names, this is funny as hell lol 'Kurage' becoming 'chicken' had me dying in particular lmao (he probably means 'kara-age' which is japanese fried chicken)

So fun pokemon fact: pokemon that tera away from their original typing keep their STAB on the moves of their original typings (so thunderbolt and earth power still get STAB on tera fairy Sandy shocks)

That is really good to know. I don't think they make that clear in game anywhere (I haven't seen that at least.) I think I only ever saw it mention that it changes the Pokémon's defensive typing and gives them STAB on the new type or double STAB if it is a type the mon already has but I never saw mention of keeping the original typing's STAB so that is EXTREMELY helpful to know.

You should do a then we fight where you build 3 teams, each round selecting which team each pokemon goes on, and then do a best of 3 using each team you made once. Battle 1 could be a blind pick and then after the loser gets the counterpick. Will be a bit longer of a video but I think the strategy during selection would be interesting and the best of 3 format would be sweaty

So I am taking guesses on some of these and will add to my comment when I figure more stuff. I think delphox is Mahoxy cause Maho is Magic, so the Oxy comes from Foxy. I make that guess cause sometimes the Japanese mix English into their speech especially when speaking to foreigners.

Some of these are anglicised really weirdly. Mahoxy is actually pronounced a lot closer to Mafoxy (fox!) with the spelling マフォクシー, and if it were meant to be Mahoxy it'd definitely be マホクシー. Not sure what Bulbapedia is on about. (for ref I don't speak Japanese I can only oh read the two main alphabets.)
