In this Pokemon Scarlet and Violet video my friend and I randomize our starter Pokemon, but we can only tell each other their name origin. After we choose six Pokemon we will then battle each other!

@@omarvilousYe, cause most.. actually all the names in the first round were literally just the two words smashed together and you could practically hear the Pokemon's name when the words were said (albeit you need to know of the Pokémon). The definitions alone however forces you to think first of the words and then the Pokémon or try to skip right to the Pokémon

Also arceus is not latin for god. It derives from the Greek word ἀρχαῖος which means "the first one" and later it took the modernized meaning of "the oldest one" or even "something way too old". Latin just borrowed the word and its meaning. Same like what Pokémon did.
