FrSky all the way. The X20 is the best radio on the market right now with SUPER user friendly OS called EthOS. Can't beat it!

Have you ever tried a Jumper or Radiomaster radio? I still use my Jumper T16 and it's fantastic.

Dropped spectrum 12 years back. Dropped FrSky a year ago. Flying TX16S these days. With CRSF on all of my drones, but one with Tracer. My planes still have mainly FrSky ACCST in em. One has CRSF. R9M ACCESS is a minefield.

I think the comparison needs to make a distinction of OpenTX radios versus all others pretty much. I also agree with some of the comments that nowadays, after FrSky pretty much shooting themselves in the foot, the multi-protocol radios like the Radiomaster TX16S are the standard to beat. I would also argue that with 5 minutes of reading about inputs and mixes, one can get going, there are also model templates that simplify setup, i just installed a template for a full house glider on my TX16S that made setup super simple. That type of community type collaboration does not exist with proprietary radio operating systems.

Great info , ive been flying for about 25 years , and we recently swapped to FrSky and im trying to learn about it .. ive crashed way to many $10,000 planes due to Futaba and their bullshit

Still using my gen 1 dx8 (and an IX12), did have to finally replace the right gimbal in the dx8, used a frksky m9 hal effect, fitted perfect, just needed to solder the spektrum plug on!

I did same on a DX9 with 2 M9R had to use washers underneath the elevator gimbal though to get the desired angle ...I should have bought a M9 for elevator gimbal instead.

I have Radiolink AT10II, Sprektum DX6s Gen 2 and now I'm running FrSky X20s and by far I am having the best luck with it. Spektrum Pricing is a little ridiculous and some of the limitations suck, I can do everything on my Radiololink I can do with Spektrum and much more affordable. Now I have the best of both worlds with FrSky great quality product, extremely versatile and priced just right. I am happy I've switched and may not look back, bit I'm keeping my radiolink I really like it also. LOL.

The FRsky X7 is a cheap low build quality transmitter, the DX8 is three times the purchase cost so yes build quality is better. You need to compare the DX8 with the Horus X10S.

I'd imagine Spektrum is to americans what the Futaba is to japanese. Frsky has severely dropped in popularity after trying to block competition off the market and changing their protocols so the whoop guys can't fly the new radios anymore. So they basically alienated themselves from their main market. I'd imagine most people getting into the hobby are going to buy a radio with the multiprotocol module, radiomaster tx16s or jumper t-lite/t18. Hall gimbals, opentx, cheap. Jumper tends to jump into the market with products that the radiomaster crew fixes of the bugs they have and then sells the copied design for cheaper, in true chinese manner.

What sailplane mode is lacking for your in the spektrum Dx8 Gen1

I fly an old DX8 and started out on helis and planes too. I've been flying FPV drones for a few years, but they really feel like a hobby that's still kind of in a beta release, what with constantly upgraded flight controllers with new MCUs, now all-in-ones with integrated ESCs, Betaflight releases, etc. Not to mention my analog video is already ancient. Horizon's ecosystem is just so much more robust. Maybe that's partly why they got out of multirotors.

Where can I find a replacement gimbal for my new Spektrum NX8? I paid $400.00 for the radio last week and accidentally dropped it yesterday :( I need to buy a new gimbal for it. Any help is appreciated.

Horizon Hobby policy is they don't sell spares. You need to send it in. A real plus for FrSky is they sell pretty much all parts to the users.

Radiomaster TX16s HAL + 2,000mw Crossfire, springs adjusted to softest, sticks run out as far as they will go, CNC lowering plates, umbrella stick ends, TweetFPV grip tape, color nuts. Upgraded with Choppergirl's Sondpack w/ 870 sound files, make your own color theme onscreen. If all you do is RC flying, potentiometer gimbals are fine and you'll probably never wear them out from a few hundred hours flying. If you're like me and already have 2,000 hours on mine in the Sim, then yeah, HAL all the way. They feel the same, but all your travel happens on the sticks, so you want some impervious to wear and tear.

Well I'm a newbie, wanted to go with frsky, ended up going with NX8, just think from my limited experience, they are much simpler, more videos to learn from, but learned something new today, lemon rx gonna have to give them a try. Thank you for your video

What do you think about TBS transmitters?
@TimmyRC
@TimmyRC 3 года назад
Crossfire is one of the best radio link options in the industry. TBS transmitters are a good value and are relatively bare bones. That's great if all you fly are drones, but for someone like myself who enjoys other genres of model aviation, TBS transmitters are pretty much out of the question.

How do you know some one is an engineer......they tell you. With that sorted. 16 years on Spektrum i was(1st dx6 2005 i think), their last good tx was the DX18(time to upgrade)....their new "phone Tx's" not my taste. I went with Frsky x20s. Different learning curve(2 days in) but so far so good and most def a better bang for your buck. Will it fly my 120cc Agwagon and my 130cc 3d plane....we'll have to wait and see, but i have a feeling i am going to be pleasantly surprised. Not a moment worth of problems with Spektrum(helis and planes i came from JR), but updating my hardware is half the price of another 120cc plane. Frsky's new Tandem rx's, the redundant bus R10 pro's, so far range test on ACC 90meters then i get a 35db rssi warning, rf on 52. I walked in normal mode almost 400m, line of sight clear both rx and tx hip height "facing" each other and rssi was at 56db and rf 76%. The Aggie is a tug, it goes 1200', the 3d planes, giant and foamies, never far, maybe as long as the runway 100m for the proper rifle roll viewing pleasure.

I fly 3D 67in Electric with old DX9 looking to replace with the FRSKY tandem... Questions 1. Is it possible to have mAh telemetry for flight pack? 2. I like to have an elevator and ailerons on a mix/switch so they both work together both Ailerons go up/down together with Elevator I like this for descending fast and also when doing inverted harriers and can have a steeper AOA...plus way more precise in hovers...is this Mix possible? 3. Would you recommend the FRSKY tandem?

still rocking spektrum to this day, and in my oppinon in open air, the range is dar near better than Frsky, but the problem with Spektrum if you are flying quads and are really pushing the range to its limit, is it can struggle to penitrate the signal through physical objects like trees or concrete, or RF interferance, but overal the latency and range is really good
@leeiverson145

There is no way any spektrum radio has better range than frsky, I own both and the spektrum does not come close, I have done some serious long range on frsky stock radio and it is pretty amazing.
@DonaldRMcCullough

Your comparison should have been based on price. The is no $110 Spectrum transmitter. The NX6 is a $350 six-channel transmitter. The NXw10 is $550. This is $60 more than the $490 FrSky X20S. The X20So does not use Open-TX but rather an intuitive menu-driven system that is similar in concept to Spektrum but way more powerful. I fly competitive sailplanes. As with FPV flyers, range is critical as we follow thermals way downwind. Another reason why you see plenty of FrSky products at sailplane contests.

Screw frsky I can’t get this bs working. I’m going back to spektrum. At least their stuff works. I though Frsky would be great for experimentation but what’s the point of you have to go through hell to get the damn thing working. Very frustrating
